What school district is Lake Sherwood in, and which regional center?

Conejo Valley Unified School District covers Lake Sherwood. Because the community is in Ventura County, its regional center is Tri-Counties Regional Center, and Therapy Clubhouse is a Tri-Counties provider.

    Asking for an assessment

Conejo Valley Unified's special education FAQ says the district has 15 calendar days to respond to a parent's request for a special education assessment.

    Early Start

Tri-Counties' Early Start covers children from birth to 36 months, and a parent can make the referral without anyone else's sign-off.

    The nearest office

The closest Tri-Counties office to Lake Sherwood is in Simi Valley, on Park Center Drive.

A child can have school services and private therapy at the same time, and with your permission, we can coordinate with the school team.

How quickly can speech and occupational therapy in Lake Sherwood begin?

Quickly. After a free 15-minute call with one of our licensed therapists, the evaluation can follow within 3 business days. A family that phones on a Monday can be evaluated that Wednesday.

Lake Sherwood evaluations can happen at home, at school, or by video. On request, they can also happen in the private office we use on Townsgate Road until the clinic opens. See the steps of a speech evaluation and the steps of an OT evaluation. The report follows in writing within 14 business days, with a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.

Which services are close to home for Lake Sherwood families?

All of them. Every service except social skills groups can take place in your house or at school. The groups meet in Westlake Village, a short trip from Lake Sherwood.

Lake Sherwood children can have therapy for childhood apraxia of speech or handwriting and fine motor sessions. There are also social skills groups in Westlake Village, plus everything in between. How do Lake Sherwood families pay for therapy?

Your plan decides a lot. Village, the company that handles insurance for us, works with TRICARE and with PPO policies from several large insurers. It charges a separate fee for each visit.

Because Lake Sherwood is in Ventura County, children under 3 who qualify can use Tri-Counties Regional Center's Early Start services. We are on its list of providers. Private pay, with a superbill, is the other route. See how Village coverage works and every way families pay us.

What else do Lake Sherwood parents ask us?

Can we come to your clinic instead?

Yes, starting December 1, 2026, when our Westlake Village clinic opens on Townsgate Road. Before then, we can hold an evaluation in a private Townsgate Road office if you ask.

Can my child join a social skills group near Lake Sherwood?

Yes. The groups meet in Westlake Village, for now in a private office on Townsgate and from December 1, 2026, at our new clinic. They are open to ages 18 months to 18, and joining doesn't require an evaluation. On the free call, we talk through whether a group is the right fit now.

Can you see my child at school?

We can. After you've signed a written consent and the school has agreed, we coordinate a time with the staff. We also make sure there's a good room for it.

“Occupational therapy enables people of all ages to participate in daily living.”

    AOTA, What is occupational therapy?

The American Academy of Pediatrics puts it at 1 in 5. That many children start talking or using words later than other children their age.

Being close to the clinic means help can be close too, but the first step is simply a conversation. Tell us what has been on your mind, and let's talk about it.
