Maybe bedtime stories have turned into a struggle because your child can't sit still for one page. Or maybe your pediatrician asked a question about speech that you are still turning over. Speech and occupational therapy in Mar Vista can begin at home. Therapy Clubhouse sends licensed speech and occupational therapists to Mar Vista kids of every age up to 18. Sessions happen at the house or at school, with video on busy days. No diagnosis or referral is needed. One phone call gets things moving.

Do you come to Mar Vista homes?

Yes. Mar Vista homes are part of our regular visit area. Sign a consent form, and school, preschool, and daycare visits are possible as well.

Mar Vista has been part of the City of Los Angeles since its annexation became official on March 10, 1927. Today it has its own neighborhood council, the Mar Vista Community Council, one of the city's 99.

Close by, we also visit Palms, Culver City, and West Los Angeles.

Who runs the schools in Mar Vista, and which regional center serves it?

Mar Vista's public schools are run by the Los Angeles Unified School District. For babies, toddlers, and older children with developmental needs, the state lists Mar Vista among the areas Westside Regional Center serves.

    Schools in the neighborhood

Grand View Boulevard Elementary describes itself as a school in the heart of Mar Vista, and Mar Vista Elementary sits on Granville Avenue.

    Raising a concern at school

For a school-age child, LAUSD's Child Find page says the first conversation is with the principal of the public school you're zoned for. Preschoolers who are at least 2 years 10 months old are handled by the district's Early Childhood Special Education office.

    Early Start and beyond

Westside Regional Center's Early Start Program covers birth to 3. After that, its services come through the Lanterman Program. Families can also get support from the Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center, which shares the regional center's building.

Where can little ones read and play in Mar Vista?

The Mar Vista Branch Library on Venice Boulevard has listed a half-hour Toddler Storytime with songs, stories, and play for toddlers, babies, and caregivers.

Mar Vista Recreation Center, at Palms and Sawtelle Boulevards, lists a children's play area. Songs at storytime and turns at the playground give your child easy chances to practice.

How do we get started with speech and occupational therapy in Mar Vista?

Start with a phone call. It's free and takes about 15 minutes. The person on the other end is a licensed therapist who can help you judge whether an evaluation makes sense.

A Mar Vista family that calls us on a Monday can have the evaluation done by Wednesday, at home, at school, or over video. We've written up what a speech evaluation involves and what an OT evaluation involves. Within 14 business days of the evaluation, the written report is in your hands, with a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.

What services can a Mar Vista child have at home?

All of them but the social skills groups, which run in Westlake Village. Everything else can happen in your Mar Vista home or at your child's school.

In Mar Vista, that can mean language therapy for late talkers or developmental delay therapy when skills arrive later than expected. It can also mean one-on-one parent coaching built around your routines. Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, and Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, founded Therapy Clubhouse together, and they still lead its OT and speech work. Our complete services page lists the rest.

Each service has its own Mar Vista page: pediatric speech therapy in Mar Vista and pediatric occupational therapy in Mar Vista.

How does paying for therapy work in Mar Vista?

It comes down to your coverage. Our insurance partner, Village, accepts TRICARE, plus PPO plans from several major insurers, with Village's own fee added at each Mar Vista visit.

Mar Vista is in Westside Regional Center's area. Our regional center work is with Tri-Counties Regional Center alone, and Los Angeles County is outside its area. So in Mar Vista, the choices are Village or private pay. Private-pay families get a superbill, which their plan may partly repay as out-of-network care. Read about Village billing or compare all payment paths.

What else do Mar Vista families want to know?

Where would the sessions take place?

Wherever works for your child: at home in Mar Vista, at school, or on a video call. Once our Westlake Village clinic is open, on December 1, 2026, you're welcome there too.

Will you work with my child's teacher or preschool?

Yes, with your permission. After you sign the consent form, we contact your child's teacher and find a time that suits the class. We also make sure the space works for a session.

Can my child get both speech and OT?

Yes. Some children need both, and both happen here. The two therapists compare notes, keep you in the loop, and build one shared treatment plan.

“It's important to encourage your child to "talk" to you with gestures or sounds and for you to spend lots of time playing with, reading to, and talking with your infant or toddler.”

    American Academy of Pediatrics, HealthyChildren.org

The CDC counts about 1 in 6 children, ages 3 through 17, as having at least one developmental disability.

If bedtime, mealtime, or playtime keeps bringing up the same question, trust that feeling. Tell us what you're seeing, and let's talk about it.
