Port Hueneme is its own small city in Ventura County, with City Hall on North Ventura Road. Its elementary district, Hueneme Elementary School District, also runs schools across the line in Oxnard. So school questions sometimes cross the city limits.
Just inland and along the coast, we also visit Oxnard, Channel Islands Beach, and Camarillo.

How can Port Hueneme families pay for therapy?
There are three routes. One is Early Start through Tri-Counties Regional Center, for children under 3 who qualify. The others are insurance through our partner Village and private pay.
Port Hueneme is in Ventura County, inside Tri-Counties Regional Center's area, and we are on its provider list. Our partner Village takes care of insurance billing. It accepts TRICARE and PPO plans from a number of major insurers, and it sets its own fee for each visit. Families who pay privately get a superbill. What else do Port Hueneme parents ask?
Where would sessions happen for a Port Hueneme family?
In your home, at school, or by video. From December 1, 2026, families who would rather come to us can also use our new Westlake Village clinic.
Can you come to Sunkist, Parkview, or another school?
Yes. You give written consent, and if the school agrees, we reach out to the staff. We settle on a time and check that there's a room that works.
How do I ask the school district for an assessment?
Start with your child's school. The office or the principal can explain the district's steps, and private therapy can run alongside whatever the school offers.
“Each state, territory, or commonwealth has its own early intervention program and rules about eligibility and services.”
Help is common. The NIDCD reports that 59.7 percent of children 3 to 17 who had a voice, speech, or language disorder got intervention services within the year.
If a teacher's comment or your own instinct has you wondering, trust it enough to ask. One short conversation can make the next step much clearer.
