Or maybe a kindergarten teacher said cutting, coloring, and holding a pencil look harder for your child than for classmates. Speech and occupational therapy in Porter Ranch can happen right at home. Porter Ranch children, newborns to 18-year-olds, can see our licensed speech and occupational therapists. We meet at home, in class, or over video chat. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Call us when it suits you.

Yes. We can see your child at home in Porter Ranch, and at school, preschool, or daycare after you sign a written consent.
The city calls Porter Ranch one of the newest parts of Los Angeles. It was the last part of the San Fernando Valley inside city limits to be developed. It sits between Chatsworth, Northridge, and Granada Hills, and it has its own certified neighborhood council.
We also visit the neighbors: Chatsworth, Northridge, and Granada Hills.

What school district and regional center serve Porter Ranch families?
Porter Ranch is part of LAUSD. North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC), which serves the San Fernando, Santa Clarita, and Antelope Valleys, lists Porter Ranch's ZIP code, 91326.
Porter Ranch Community School, on Mason Avenue, is a Los Angeles Unified public school for kindergarten through grade 8.
LAUSD's Child Find page names the principal of your zoned public school as the first contact for a student in TK or above. A Student Support and Progress Team is a possible next step. Preschoolers 2 years 10 months and older begin with Early Childhood Special Education, an LAUSD office.
For children younger than 36 months, NLACRC's Early Start program takes referrals from anyone, parents included. Once a child turns 3, services come under the Lanterman Act, which has its own application.
Is there a storytime for little ones in Porter Ranch?
Yes. The Porter Ranch Branch Library on Tampa Avenue lists a weekly Wednesday storytime with scarves, shakers, and songs. It is open to kids from birth to 5.
Porter Ridge Park, at Reseda and Sesnon Boulevards, has a children's play area. The city says it was used for the park scene at the end of E.T., and locals call it E.T. Park.
Who do we talk to first about speech and occupational therapy in Porter Ranch?
A licensed therapist, on a free phone consultation that takes about 15 minutes. You describe what you're seeing, and the therapist tells you plainly whether an evaluation should come next.
Porter Ranch evaluations can be booked within 3 business days and held in your living room, at school, or in a video session. The first session can follow your call by as little as 5 days, before the report is even written. Read the steps of our speech evaluation and of our OT evaluation. Written findings come within 14 business days, with a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.
Does every service you list come to Porter Ranch?
Yes, with one exception: the social skills groups, held in Westlake Village. Everything else can come to your Porter Ranch home or your child's school.
For Porter Ranch kids, that can mean OT for scissors, crayons, and pencil grip, or articulation therapy for a child who is hard to understand. It can also mean feeding therapy when the list of foods keeps shrinking. Behind both disciplines are our founders, Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP (speech), and Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L (OT). Here is everything we offer.

How do Porter Ranch families handle the cost of therapy?
Your coverage is the starting point. Porter Ranch families can use insurance through our partner Village. TRICARE is accepted, and so are PPO plans from several major insurers, with a per-visit fee set by Village.
NLACRC is the regional center for Porter Ranch, and it isn't one we work with. Our regional center partner is Tri-Counties, which serves the three counties of Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo. So Porter Ranch families choose between Village and private pay, which comes with a superbill. Learn more on Village's insurance page or on our payment options page.
What else do Porter Ranch families wonder about?
Where is your clinic, and do we have to go there?
It's in Westlake Village and opens December 1, 2026, but you don't need to make that trip. Porter Ranch children get their sessions at home, at school, or over video.
Can you work with my child at Porter Ranch Community School?
We can, with your written consent and the school's go-ahead. Before the first session, we work out the timing with the staff and check the room. Private schools, preschools, and daycares work the same way.
Can occupational therapy help with scissors and handwriting?
Yes. Pencil grip, letter formation, cutting, and buttons are everyday OT goals, matched to your child's age.
“These milestones help doctors and other health professionals determine if a child is on track or if he or she may need extra help.”
In young children, speech sound disorders, articulation and phonological disorders among them, run at about 8 to 9 percent, NIDCD figures show.
If you've been wondering for a while, that wondering is worth a phone call. We'll listen first, and if therapy isn't the next step, we'll say so.
