How does Moorpark Unified offer OT?
As a related service. Moorpark Unified lists occupational therapy among the related services that support a student's special education placement.
The district explains who can get them. A student must first qualify for special education under one of 14 listed conditions. The student must also be assigned at least one primary service.
To ask for a district assessment, the Ventura County SELPA suggests a written request. Name your concerns, then add your signature and the date. Private OT can continue alongside. If you consent, our therapist can work with the school team too.
What happens during an OT evaluation for a Moorpark child?
It is play-based, with standardized tests picked for your child's age. Evaluations run about 60 to 90 minutes.
No need to gather supplies; the therapist brings them. A feeding evaluation is the one case where you might be asked to prepare some foods. If a child is having a hard day, we stop and try another time, because no child should feel they are doing something wrong. The report arrives inside 14 business days, counting from the evaluation, with a plan for your Moorpark child if OT is recommended.

Moorpark families can use insurance billed by Village or pay privately with our superbill. Qualifying children under 3 may use Early Start. We check your plan first.

No. Babies can start OT, and our OT program runs from birth to age 18.
Does my child need an IEP for private OT?
No. Private OT needs no IEP, diagnosis, or referral.
Will I get things to practice at home?
Yes. Coaching for you is part of every treatment plan, so practice continues between sessions.
