Simi Valley Unified offers speech and language services to students ages 3 to 21 when a communication disorder affects their schooling. The services are at every district school, from preschool through grade 12.
The district's speech-language pathologists test and treat language, articulation, voice, and fluency, including stuttering. If you think your child may need testing, the district asks you to talk with your school principal.
For ages 3 to 5, the Preschool Speech Program serves children with assessed speech and language delays. They come each week to work on things like how clearly they speak, articulation, and social language. It is one of several district programs at Justin Early Learners Academy.
Where do Simi Valley toddlers under 3 start?
Early Start is California's early intervention system for children under 36 months. In this area, Tri-Counties Regional Center coordinates it with school districts, and Tri-Counties keeps an office in Simi Valley at 2635 Park Center Drive.
That office is open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you or your doctor suspect a delay, Tri-Counties says you may refer your child yourself, at any time. Therapy Clubhouse is an Early Start provider for Tri-Counties.
