Is the consultation free, and what’s the difference from an evaluation?
Yes. The 15-minute consultation is genuinely free and comes with no obligation, a conversation with a licensed therapist to answer your questions and suggest a next step. It is not an evaluation. If therapy is a fit, the next step is a comprehensive, play-based evaluation (we are private pay and out of network, and we provide superbills you can submit for possible reimbursement) that maps your child’s strengths and needs. No diagnosis is required to begin.
What if my child is under 3?
Children from birth to 36 months in Ventura County may qualify for Early Start through Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC), and Therapy Clubhouse is a vendored TCRC provider. Because the earliest years are when development moves fastest, about 1 in 6 children ages 3 to 17 has a developmental disability (CDC), starting early gives your child more options. Here’s how Early Start works.
Can you support my child’s school or IEP?
Yes. Private therapy complements school services rather than replacing them. Our occupational therapist has years of school-based experience and knows the IEP process, and private sessions are more frequent and individualized. Many Camarillo families use both together.

School based support and private therapy are not the same thing: school services are tied to how a child is doing in the educational setting and carry their own eligibility process, while private speech therapy and occupational therapy focuses on the goals you and your therapist set for your child. Because Camarillo sits in Ventura County, children under age 3 are served by Tri-Counties Regional Center, which covers Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Therapy Clubhouse is a contracted Tri-Counties provider for Early Start speech therapy and occupational therapy. You do not need a doctor to refer you: a parent can call Tri-Counties directly at (800) 664-3177 to begin an Early Start referral, and we are glad to explain what to expect first.
How therapy actually works for Camarillo families
Right now we come to you. In-home sessions let your child practice new skills in the rooms where they already play, eat, dress, and do homework, which is often where families most want to see change. Telehealth is available when that fits your schedule better. Our Westlake Village clinic opens on November 1, 2026, adding a clinic option for Camarillo families who would rather come to us.
