If therapy is a fit, the next step is a comprehensive, play-based evaluation (insurance can be used through Village, or you can pay privately with a superbill for possible reimbursement) mapping your child’s strengths and needs. No diagnosis is required to begin.
What if my child is under 3?
Children from birth to 36 months in Ventura County may qualify for Early Start through Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC), and Therapy Clubhouse is a vendored TCRC provider. For context, about 1 in 6 children ages 3 through 17 has one or more developmental disabilities (CDC). Here’s how Early Start works.
Can you support my child’s Conejo Valley school or IEP?
Yes, we can support your child's school plan or IEP. Private therapy and Conejo Valley Unified services are designed to answer different questions, so they run alongside each other rather than competing. School services are tied to how a child is doing in the educational setting and have their own eligibility process. Private therapy focuses on the goals you and your therapist set for your child.

Newbury Park sits inside Conejo Valley Unified, the same district that serves the rest of Thousand Oaks. The campuses your child actually attends, though, are not the same ones. Newbury Park families feed to Newbury Park High School on Reino Road, and in Dos Vientos the school of residence is Sycamore Canyon, which runs Kindergarten through eighth grade on a single campus.
That K-8 structure can matter more for an IEP than you might expect. When a child moves from a K-5 elementary to a separate middle school, the IEP team can change, and you may find yourself re-explaining your child from scratch to people who have never met them. At a K-8 campus the same team can follow your child for nine years. Continuity like that can help, and a fresh look at the plan can help too.
Newbury Park is in Ventura County, so Early Start may come through Tri-Counties
Because Newbury Park is in Ventura County, a child under three who qualifies may receive Early Start through Tri-Counties Regional Center rather than a Los Angeles County center. A parent can contact Tri-Counties directly to start an Early Start referral.
One detail worth knowing: the county line does not follow the way people talk about this area. Households a few minutes east, in parts of Westlake Village, can sit on the Los Angeles County side and route to a completely different regional center. Regional centers themselves warn that some ZIP codes are shared between them. So if you have moved within the Conejo Valley, do not assume your referral goes where your neighbor's went. Route it by street address, not by ZIP code, and confirm before you wait.
You are at the west end of the valley. Does that change anything?
Being at the west end of the valley does not change what we offer. Newbury Park is in our home-visit area.
