Our speech-language pathologists work with Ventura children on late talking, speech and language delays, unclear or hard-to-understand speech (articulation), stuttering and fluency, childhood apraxia of speech, social communication, and AAC for children who are minimally speaking. We also coach parents with small, specific strategies to use at home between sessions.

Is the consultation really free — and what about the evaluation?
Yes, the 15-minute consultation is genuinely free and comes with no obligation. It’s a friendly conversation with a licensed speech or occupational therapist to hear your concerns, answer any and all of your questions, and point you toward the right next step. It is not an evaluation.
If therapy looks like a fit, the next step is a comprehensive evaluation — a separate, in-depth, play-based assessment that maps your child’s strengths and needs and shapes their plan. You don’t need a diagnosis to begin, though some insurance plans require a referral for coverage, and we’re happy to help you check.
What if my child is under 3? Early Start and TCRC in Ventura County
Children from birth to 36 months in Ventura County may qualify for Early Start services through Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC), and Therapy Clubhouse is a vendored TCRC provider. If you have concerns about your baby or toddler’s development, it’s worth starting the conversation early.
Early support makes the most of the years when development moves fastest — about 1 in 6 children ages 3–17 has a developmental disability, according to the CDC, and getting a look sooner rather than later gives families more options. Learn more about early intervention and how Early Start works.
When should I reach out?
Trust your gut. If you’ve noticed your child is behind on talking, is hard to understand past age three, struggles with handwriting or gets overwhelmed by everyday sensory input, or has lost skills they used to have, it’s worth a conversation. Plenty of children catch up on their own — and an early look either reassures you or gets support started sooner.
Speech and developmental differences are a common part of childhood; the NIDCD estimates that 8–9% of young children have a speech sound disorder. If a concern could be medical — new changes, possible hearing issues, or anything that worries your pediatrician — start there, and we’ll gladly work alongside your child’s doctor.
