Pediatric Speech & Occupational Therapy in Ventura, CA

Pediatric Speech & Occupational Therapy in Ventura, CA

If your child in Ventura isn’t talking as much as the other kids at the park, or if handwriting, getting dressed, and busy environments feel harder for them than they should, you don’t have to drive across the county to get help. Therapy Clubhouse provides pediatric speech-language therapy and occupational therapy for Ventura children from birth through age 18 — in your home or by telehealth today, with a Westlake Village clinic opening in Fall 2026. Every family starts with a free 15-minute consultation with a licensed speech or occupational therapist, with no obligation.

Many families start by searching for a children’s therapy center in Ventura that can handle more than one need at once. Because our speech-language pathologist and occupational therapist work as one team, Therapy Clubhouse offers multidisciplinary pediatric therapy for Ventura children — so speech, language, sensory, fine-motor, and social goals are supported under one coordinated plan instead of scattered across separate offices.

What does pediatric occupational therapy help my child with in Ventura?

Pediatric occupational therapy helps children build the everyday skills that make learning, play, and independence easier — fine-motor and handwriting skills, sensory processing and self-regulation, coordination and body awareness, and daily-living tasks like dressing, using utensils, and managing school routines.

For a Ventura family, that might mean helping a kindergartner who avoids coloring because a pencil feels awkward, or a child who melts down in loud places and needs strategies to feel calm and organized. Our occupational therapist is USC-trained and certified in sensory integration, and sessions are play-based and built around what each child actually needs — not a worksheet, but real skills woven into things kids want to do.

How do I find a speech therapist for my child in Ventura?

Our speech-language pathologists work with Ventura children on late talking, speech and language delays, unclear or hard-to-understand speech (articulation), stuttering and fluency, childhood apraxia of speech, social communication, and AAC for children who are minimally speaking. We also coach parents with small, specific strategies to use at home between sessions.

You know your child best. If you find yourself translating for them, if strangers can’t understand them, or if the words just aren’t coming the way they did for older siblings, a speech-language pathologist can help you sort out what’s typical and what would benefit from support.

Do you offer in-person therapy in Ventura, or is it telehealth?

Both. In-home visits and telehealth are available across Ventura today; our first in-person clinic opens in Westlake Village in Fall 2026. In-home sessions let your child practice new skills right where they’ll use them, and telehealth adds flexibility for busy families.

We see families throughout Ventura — Downtown and Midtown, East Ventura, the Avenue, and Pierpont — as well as nearby Oxnard, Camarillo, and Ojai. You can read more about how in-home speech therapy and telehealth work for families in our area.

Is the consultation really free — and what about the evaluation?

Yes, the 15-minute consultation is genuinely free and comes with no obligation. It’s a friendly conversation with a licensed speech or occupational therapist to hear your concerns, answer any and all of your questions, and point you toward the right next step. It is not an evaluation.

If therapy looks like a fit, the next step is a comprehensive evaluation — a separate, in-depth, play-based assessment that maps your child’s strengths and needs and shapes their plan. You don’t need a diagnosis to begin, though some insurance plans require a referral for coverage, and we’re happy to help you check.

What if my child is under 3? Early Start and TCRC in Ventura County

Children from birth to 36 months in Ventura County may qualify for Early Start services through Tri-Counties Regional Center (TCRC), and Therapy Clubhouse is a vendored TCRC provider. If you have concerns about your baby or toddler’s development, it’s worth starting the conversation early.

Early support makes the most of the years when development moves fastest — about 1 in 6 children ages 3–17 has a developmental disability, according to the CDC, and getting a look sooner rather than later gives families more options. Learn more about early intervention and how Early Start works.

When should I reach out?

Trust your gut. If you’ve noticed your child is behind on talking, is hard to understand past age three, struggles with handwriting or gets overwhelmed by everyday sensory input, or has lost skills they used to have, it’s worth a conversation. Plenty of children catch up on their own — and an early look either reassures you or gets support started sooner.

Speech and developmental differences are a common part of childhood; the NIDCD estimates that 8–9% of young children have a speech sound disorder. If a concern could be medical — new changes, possible hearing issues, or anything that worries your pediatrician — start there, and we’ll gladly work alongside your child’s doctor.

Therapy Clubhouse was founded by two licensed pediatric clinicians who are also mothers — Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, and Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L (USC-trained, certified in sensory integration).
