In-School and Daycare Speech and Occupational Therapy
Sometimes the best place for therapy is where your child already spends their day. With your permission and the school's, our therapists can provide sessions at your child's preschool, daycare, or private school, supporting skills in the exact environment where they are needed.
How school-based sessions work
We coordinate directly with your child's teacher or director to find a time and space that works, a quiet corner, the motor room, or alongside classroom activities when goals call for it. You receive the same session notes and progress updates as in-home families, and your therapist shares practical strategies with school staff so progress carries into the classroom.
Private therapy alongside an IEP
School district services and private therapy answer different questions: an IEP supports educational access, while private therapy can target the broader goals your family cares about, at a higher frequency. We are happy to coordinate with your child's IEP team, read more in how private speech and OT support your child's IEP.
Who this works best for
Busy families who cannot add another stop to the week, children whose goals show up most at school, social communication, attention, handwriting, lunchbox independence, and preschoolers who do best with short, frequent sessions woven into a familiar routine. Many families combine school sessions with in-home or telehealth visits.
Speech and Occupational Therapy at School and Daycare
For some children, the most natural place to receive therapy is where they spend their day, at school or daycare. Therapy Clubhouse offers in-school and daycare-based speech and occupational therapy that meets children in their everyday learning environment, so skills are built and practiced exactly where they are needed: during circle time, at the craft table, on the playground, and in social moments with peers.
Why In-School and Daycare Therapy Helps
Therapy in a child's daily setting has real advantages. Skills generalize more easily because they are practiced in context, therapists can observe and support real social interactions, and teachers and caregivers can learn strategies that reinforce progress throughout the day. It can also reduce the need for separate appointments, making support more convenient for families.
How It Works
We coordinate with your child's school or daycare to provide services that complement their day, and we keep communication open with both families and staff. Goals are individualized and tied to real classroom and social demands, and we share simple strategies that teachers and caregivers can use between visits.
Developmental and communication differences are a common part of childhood. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports that about 1 in 6 children ages 3 to 17 (17.3%) has a developmental disability, and nearly 1 in 12 (7.7%) has a disorder related to voice, speech, language, or swallowing. The CDC’s most recent data identify about 1 in 31 eight-year-olds (3.2%) with autism spectrum disorder, while the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders reports that 5 to 10% of children stutter and speech sound disorders affect 8 to 9% of young children. Across all of these areas, early speech and occupational therapy give children the best opportunity to build skills during the years when development moves fastest.
