Speech-language pathologist, CSUN trained, ASHA certified, California licensed. Nita started this practice because she kept seeing children evaluated by one clinician then handed to another. Her caseload covers late talking, unclear speech sounds, stuttering, understanding and using language, and social communication.
Pediatric Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy in Canoga Park, CA
Two languages at home is not why your child is quiet
It is the most common thing Canoga Park parents tell us they have been told, and it delays children by months. Bilingual households do not cause speech delay. Where a delay exists it appears in both languages, and a proper evaluation looks at both.

There is no waiting list
You are not joining a queue. We can talk about starting this week. Ring (805) 702-3427 and we will tell you what is genuinely open. If a waiting list ever forms, this page will say so.
Who treats your child
A two clinician practice, which means continuity rather than a handoff after assessment.

Canoga Park schools, and where private therapy fits
Canoga Park is Los Angeles Unified. Canoga Park High School sits on Topanga Canyon Boulevard and has served the area since 1914, and Canoga Park Elementary is nearby.
A district assessment asks whether a difficulty affects your child educationally. That is a legal threshold, not a clinical one, and children who fall short of it can still benefit from therapy. The private report is yours, and it makes an IEP conversation more concrete.
AGBU Manoogian-Demirdjian School in Canoga Park serves preschool through twelfth grade and has been here since 1976. For independent school families the district route is generally closed, so there is no eligibility finding standing between you and support. You are only deciding whether an evaluation is worth an hour.
Funding for Canoga Park runs through North Los Angeles County Regional Center, 9200 Oakdale Avenue, Chatsworth, (818) 778-1900. Assignment follows health district rather than city line, so verify your address on the state DDS lookup. Under threes go via Early Start through the Regional Center, not the school district. Important: we are a Tri-Counties Regional Center provider, and Tri-Counties covers Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties rather than Los Angeles County. That means families here are generally private pay with us. If your child is already an NLACRC client, ask them whether an out of area or out of network arrangement is possible, and we are happy to speak with your service coordinator. We would rather tell you this upfront than after an evaluation. See Regional Center and early intervention.
What bilingual development actually looks like
Code switching signals two working systems, not confusion. Bilingual adults do it constantly.
Forty Spanish words and thirty English words is seventy words. Counting only English invents a delay that does not exist.
This advice still circulates and it is wrong. It costs a child a language and a family a connection, and it does not speed up English.
In both languages at once. That is the marker worth acting on, and it needs someone who assesses both rather than testing English and concluding.
Fees and what we do not do
We charge privately and sit out of network, issuing superbills so you can claim against your plan. We are a Tri-Counties Regional Center provider, which covers Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties rather than Los Angeles County, so families here are generally private pay with us. Payment options. Outside our practice: applied behavior analysis, swallowing therapy, psychological care, adult clients. Those get referred to people who do them properly.
