Pediatric Occupational Therapy in Studio City, CA

Therapy Clubhouse provides in-home and telehealth pediatric occupational therapy to families in Studio City, for children from birth to 18. A licensed occupational therapist comes to your home, and the first 15-minute consultation is free. As of October 2026, there is no waiting list here for in-home or telehealth therapy.

Organization is a motor and planning skill, not a character trait

A parent of a middle-schooler may say, "He is bright, he is not lazy, and he cannot find anything."

Homework gets done and never handed in. The backpack is a compressed archaeological layer. Three teachers have emailed about missing work the child genuinely believed was finished. Everyone, including the child, has concluded that he simply does not care enough.

Occupational therapy takes a different view, and it is a more useful one. Organizing materials, sequencing a multi-step task, judging how long something will take, and keeping track of belongings across a moving day are skills. They develop, they can be behind, and they can be taught directly. Caring more does not produce them, so being told to try harder may not help.

Why sixth grade in Studio City exposes it

The structure here can help explain the timing.

Elementary school can mean one teacher, one room, one set of expectations, and an adult who notices and prompts before anything is actually lost. Walter Reed Middle School had over fifteen hundred students in the 2025-26 school year, and each teacher may see your child for a single period a day.

A child may have to move between rooms, carry the right materials for each, track deadlines set by different adults, and manage their own belongings in a busier building. The support that had been quietly helping can be removed all at once.

Parents may read this as a sudden decline in effort. It can instead be that a skill was relying on support, and the support is gone.

What we actually work on

  • A backpack and folder system the child can maintain without an adult
  • Breaking multi-step assignments into sequences and estimating how long each takes
  • Handwriting speed and automaticity, where slow letter formation is eating the attention needed to think
  • Keyboarding, where that is genuinely the better route for a particular child
  • Managing the physical environment: the desk, the lighting, the noise, the phone
  • Recovering after a transition rather than carrying it into the next lesson

The test we apply is whether the system survives without us. A strategy the child can only run while an adult supervises has not been learned. It has been borrowed.

Other reasons a family might reach out

  • Handwriting that is effortful, painful, or flatly refused
  • Dressing that still runs on adult prompting at every step
  • Overwhelm from clothing seams, noise, or crowded rooms
  • Constant crashing, climbing and movement seeking
  • Transitions that reliably end in a meltdown, at any age
  • A child who copes in class and comes apart in unstructured time

Where we start

With a free 15-minute call. If an evaluation is the right next step, it takes place within 3 business days of that call, and it takes about 60 to 90 minutes. Learn how the pediatric OT evaluation in Studio City works.

The written report arrives within 14 business days of the evaluation. If therapy is recommended, a therapy plan comes with it.

In-home versus telehealth

Occupational therapy can depend on the physical environment, so in-home therapy can be a good fit. For organizational and executive-function work with older children, however, telehealth is an option. The work can involve coaching the child through their own systems on their own devices. Studio City is in our home-visit area.

Under three

If your child is under three, you can contact the regional center that serves your address to ask about Early Start. Eligibility can rest on a 25% delay in one or more areas of development, a combination of biomedical risk factors, or an established risk condition.

The edges of what we do

We do not provide applied behavior analysis, behavioral therapy or counseling, music therapy, or nutrition services, and we do not diagnose autism, ADHD or any other condition. We describe what we observe, put it in writing, and refer onward where that is right.
