The two people who would work with your child
This is a two clinician practice. You will not be handed to a rotating roster.
Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L
Occupational therapist. Master of Arts, trained at USC, certified by NBCOT, licensed in California, with sensory integration training from USC. Rachel works on handwriting and fine motor control, sensory processing, coordination and motor planning, self care routines and the practical independence a school day demands. Your Woodland Hills schools, and what they can and cannot do
Woodland Hills is Los Angeles Unified. Here is the part that is easy to miss. When you request a district assessment, LAUSD asks a specific legal question: is this difficulty affecting your child educationally? That is a narrower test than whether therapy would help your child. A child who does not meet that test may still benefit from therapy. A private evaluation asks the broader question, and the written report is yours to bring to an IEP meeting.
Preschool families in Woodland Hills
Preschool can be where a difficulty first becomes visible to somebody outside the family. A two year old whose words stopped arriving. A three year old the teacher cannot understand. A four year old who will not touch the paint or tolerate the noise of the yard. If a preschool teacher has just raised something with you, this is a good moment to ask a question. Age three is a handoff point. Children under three who qualify can get Early Start through the regional center that serves your address. At the third birthday, responsibility shifts toward the school district.
If your child attends a private school
Federal special education law still applies to private school students: each public school district must locate, identify, and evaluate children with disabilities whose parents enroll them in private schools in its area. Private therapy is a separate path, and you can start it at any time. Woodland Hills is served by North Los Angeles County Regional Center, 9200 Oakdale Avenue in Chatsworth. Los Angeles County assigns by health district rather than city name, so confirm yours by address on the state DDS lookup. Important: we are a Tri-Counties Regional Center provider, and Tri-Counties covers Ventura, Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties rather than Los Angeles County. That means Woodland Hills families use insurance through Village or pay privately with us. We would rather tell you this upfront than after an evaluation. What a home visit actually looks like
A home visit is a one-on-one therapy session in the rooms where your child actually eats, dresses, plays and does homework, so the skills get practiced where they are used. Here is what that looks like, room by room.
At your kitchen table
Handwriting, scissors and utensil grip get examined where they happen. Chair height, elbow angle and whether feet reach the floor can all matter. Small mechanical things can make pencil work harder.
On the bedroom floor
Language work looks like play, in the room where your child plays.
On your stairs and in your hallway
Balance and motor planning read differently on your actual stairs than on clinic equipment. A child who is confident in a therapy gym may hesitate at home, and that gap is useful information.
In the bathroom doorway
Toothbrushing and washing are self-care routines. They are hard to work on outside a home.
Cost, and who we are not right for
Insurance can be used through Village. You can also pay privately, and we give you a superbill. Payment details. We do not provide ABA, mental health counseling, or care for adults, and we refer out rather than stretch.

The school evaluated and said no. Is that the end of it?
No. It means your child did not meet an educational eligibility threshold, which is not the same as needing no help. Bring the report to your first call.
Can we start with speech and add OT later?
Yes, you can start with speech and add OT later. Start where the concern is loudest.
How soon can we actually begin?
As of October 2026, we can start an evaluation within 3 business days of your free call. Your child's first session can be as soon as 5 days after you call, for in-home and telehealth.
Do you offer after school times?

We do provide feeding therapy where an evaluation shows it is appropriate. More complex feeding and swallowing presentations, including anything with a medical or airway component, we refer on to a specialist team rather than treat ourselves.
