Maybe your child's TK teacher says your child rarely joins in at circle time. Or maybe you are counting words and comparing notes with other parents. Pediatric speech therapy in Bel Air can take place in your own living room. With a speech-language pathologist, a child practices understanding words, using sentences, speaking smoothly, and saying sounds clearly. Most of it is play. Parents learn how to keep the practice going on hectic weekdays. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Is in-home speech therapy available in Bel Air?

Yes. Bel Air is one of the places our home visits cover. We can also meet by video.

Bel Air schools, public and private, can host sessions too, as can preschools and daycares, after your written consent and the school's okay. We then confirm a time and a suitable room with the staff.

What does pediatric speech therapy in Bel Air help with?

Understanding and using language, clear speech sounds, smooth speech, and social communication.

For unclear sounds, there is articulation therapy. For words and sentences, there is language therapy. We also work on social communication. Some children need help with childhood apraxia of speech or with stuttering. Myofunctional therapy and feeding therapy round out the list.

What should Bel Air families know about TK at Roscomare Road?

In October 2026, Roscomare Road Elementary's website described TK for the 2026 to 2027 school year. It said TK would be open to children who turn 5 between September 2, 2026, and September 1, 2027.

The same TK page said the school would consider TK placement based on teacher and administrator observations, parent requests, and space. It added that students who live outside its area must apply for Open Enrollment. At that time, Roscomare's website described a student body of nearly 460, from UTK through fifth grade.

The state school directory lists Roscomare Road as a public school, not a charter, and LAUSD lists it among its Region West schools.

How does LAUSD support speech, language, and hearing?

LAUSD's Speech and Language program serves eligible students across the district. It is for students whose communication challenges get in the way of their progress in regular classes.

Some preschool-age children are not in a district preschool. LAUSD's Early Childhood Special Education office can assess them. The testing looks at strengths and needs and decides eligibility. LAUSD also offers PreK itinerant services, given by a special education teacher at LAUSD preschools, TK programs, and community preschools.

For hearing, LAUSD's Audiological Resource Unit offers a full hearing test by an educational audiologist. It is for any child from 3 to 22. LAUSD's Child Find page adds that special education services through the district, assessment included, cost parents nothing.

How soon can a Bel Air child begin speech therapy?

A Monday phone call can lead to a Wednesday evaluation for a Bel Air child. Three business days after the consultation is the longest it takes.

Sessions can start before the paperwork; the first can be 5 days after your call. Your report is due within 14 business days of the evaluation, with a treatment plan if therapy is recommended. You can ask for a rush evaluation. As of October 2026, nobody is on a waiting list for our home or video speech therapy.

The direction for our speech therapy comes from Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, herself a founder of the practice.

How can Bel Air families pay for speech therapy?

Bel Air families can go through Village, our insurance partner, or pay privately. What is covered depends on the plan.

TRICARE billing goes through Village, along with billing for PPO plans that several major insurers offer; Village sets its own per-visit fee. When you pay privately, our superbill lets you seek partial reimbursement from your insurer. See how Village insurance works, or read about every payment option.

Questions Bel Air parents ask

Does Westside Regional Center see older children too?

Yes. Its intake page says intakes can happen at any age, as long as the developmental issue began before age 18. Intake is free regardless of citizenship status.

Could the evaluation be at my child's school?

Yes, if you consent in writing and the school agrees. Home and video also work, and on request we can use a private Westlake Village office on Townsgate Road.

What if speech therapy is not needed?

When therapy isn't the right next step, you will hear that from us directly.

Speech therapy from our team also reaches Brentwood, Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. For everything else we offer in this neighborhood, see the Bel Air page.
