Maybe your two-year-old understands what you say but answers mostly with gestures. Or maybe classmates keep asking your kindergartner to repeat things. Pediatric speech therapy in Culver City can be part of your regular week at home. Here is what a speech-language pathologist does: help a child understand what others say, put thoughts into words, and make speech sounds clearly. The work looks like play, and parents learn how to keep it going from one visit to the next. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Where in Culver City can speech sessions happen?

Culver City homes, schools, and video calls all work. The city sits inside our home-visit area.

Your child's school, preschool, or daycare can be the setting, too. That takes your signed consent and the school's approval, and then we coordinate the visit with the teachers. Evaluations for Culver City children take place in the home, at the school, or over video.

Culver City kids work on understanding and using language, clear sounds, fluent speech, and getting along in conversation.

Some Culver City children need help with social communication instead, or with stuttering. Others work on childhood apraxia of speech. We also offer myofunctional therapy, and a speech therapist can lead feeding therapy when the evaluation points that way.

How soon can a Culver City child start speech therapy?

Fast. Culver City evaluations happen inside 3 business days of the free consultation. There is a rush option, too.

Your child doesn't have to wait for the report to begin. The earliest first session is 5 days after you call. The written findings follow, at most 14 business days after the evaluation, with a therapy plan when speech therapy is recommended.

How can Culver City families pay for speech therapy?

Culver City families can have Village, our partner, bill their insurance. Or they can pay privately and get a superbill. On the free call, we look at your plan with you.

Village accepts TRICARE plus PPO plans sold by several major insurers, charging a fee of its own per visit. Your insurer may pay back part of a private-pay superbill, out of network. Here is how Village insurance works, and here are all the ways to pay.

Culver City parents ask

Does Westside Regional Center charge for intake?

No. Its intake page says intake is a free service, provided to all regardless of citizenship status.

We are raising our child with two languages. Is that okay?

Yes. According to the NIDCD, being raised with two languages is not a cause of developmental language disorder. Mention the languages your child hears when we talk.

Can an evaluation show that therapy is not needed?

It can. When an evaluation finds that therapy is not needed, we say so plainly. Good news is useful news too.
