Oxnard School District, Hueneme Elementary School District, Ocean View School District, and Rio School District each serve part of the city. Check your street address with the district.
Oxnard Union High School District draws from Oxnard, Port Hueneme, Camarillo, and the unincorporated areas around them.
Oxnard School District tells parents they may ask for a special education assessment at any time. They can talk with a school administrator or give a written request to the teacher or front office.
Early Start is for children up to 36 months who qualify, and a parent can refer their own child. Tri-Counties Regional Center has an office on East Gonzales Road in Oxnard, and Therapy Clubhouse is one of its providers.

Yes. Oxnard Public Library lists weekly storytimes at all three of its locations. The city has also opened an all-inclusive playground at Community Center East Park.
The South Oxnard branch even hosts a Toddler Storytime and Dance Party on Thursday mornings for children up to age 5. College Park, a 75-acre city park on South Rose Avenue, has a playground as well.
First 5 Ventura County runs Neighborhoods for Learning, family programs held at school sites such as Harrington and Mar Vista elementary schools. Dancing to a song or swapping turns on a slide is real practice for a lot of what therapy works on.

Which services can come to an Oxnard home or school?
All of them except social skills groups, which gather in Westlake Village. Today they meet in a private office we use on Townsgate Road, and from December 1 inside the new clinic.
For Oxnard children, that includes language therapy for late talkers, articulation therapy for speech sounds, and handwriting and fine motor help. Feeding therapy and parent coaching are on the list too. Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, is our speech-language pathologist, and Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, is our occupational therapist. Browse all 17 of our services.

How do Oxnard families pay for therapy?
It depends on your plan. Insurance can work through our partner, Village, which takes TRICARE and PPO coverage from several major insurers. Expect a Village fee at each visit as well as whatever copay or deductible your Oxnard plan sets.
For Ventura County children under 3 who qualify, there is also Early Start, available through Tri-Counties Regional Center. We are one of its providers. Paying privately is a third route. We hand you a superbill, and your insurer may reimburse part of it as out-of-network care. We sort out which path fits on the free call.
