Maybe your child talks a mile a minute at home but goes quiet with new kids, and you're not sure what that means. Or maybe the pediatrician suggested a speech or OT evaluation, and you want to know what comes next. Speech and occupational therapy in Toluca Lake can start without leaving the house. Toluca Lake kids, from infancy to 18, can work one-on-one with our licensed therapists, in speech or OT. Sessions happen at home, at school, or online. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Toluca Lake parents can simply call.
Do you come to Toluca Lake and Toluca Woods?
Yes. Homes in both are inside our visit area. With your signed consent, therapy can also take place at your child's school, preschool, or daycare.
The Greater Toluca Lake Neighborhood Council became the city's 44th certified neighborhood council on September 10, 2002. It meets at Toluca Lake Elementary School. Its eastern boundary is the Los Angeles city limit, between the Los Angeles River and Margate Street.
We also visit nearby Burbank, North Hollywood, and Studio City.
Request your free 15-minute consultation
Tell us what you are noticing about your child. A licensed therapist reads every message, not an assistant, and replies within one business day. The consultation is free, lasts about 15 minutes, and carries no obligation. There is no waiting list. If you would rather talk now, call (805) 702-3427.
Who handles schools and regional center services in Toluca Lake?
On the Los Angeles side of the city line, LAUSD runs the public schools. NLACRC, short for North Los Angeles County Regional Center, is the regional center for the San Fernando Valley.
Toluca Lake Elementary, on Cahuenga Boulevard, is part of LAUSD's North Hollywood and Valley Village network. Rio Vista Elementary, on Satsuma Avenue, sits in an area the neighborhood council shares with Studio City.
If your child is school age, TK and up, LAUSD's Child Find page says to contact the principal at your child's public school of residence. A preschooler of at least 2 years 10 months goes through a separate office, Early Childhood Special Education.
NLACRC keeps two applications: Early Start for children under 3, and a second for children over 3. You can email either one.
North Weddington Recreation Center on Acama Street, in the area shared with Studio City, has a children's play area.
Can speech and occupational therapy in Toluca Lake start this week?
It can. The first step is a free call, during which a licensed therapist talks with you for about 15 minutes. If an evaluation is the next step, it can be done within 3 business days. So a call on Monday can mean an evaluation on Wednesday.
We hold Toluca Lake evaluations in the living room, at school, or on screen. See the speech evaluation basics and the OT evaluation basics. The written report, with a treatment plan when therapy is recommended, arrives within 14 business days.
What can a Toluca Lake family get at home?
Everything on our list except social skills groups can come to your home or your child's classroom. The groups gather in Westlake Village.
That includes social communication therapy for conversation and play with peers, developmental delay therapy, and one-on-one parent coaching sessions. Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, started Therapy Clubhouse with Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L; Nita now leads speech, and Rachel leads OT. Every service we provide is listed on one page.
What are the payment options in Toluca Lake?
Toluca Lake families can bill insurance through our partner Village or pay privately. Village handles billing for TRICARE and for PPO plans from several major insurers, and a Village fee applies at each Toluca Lake visit.
Toluca Lake falls in NLACRC's area. We work only with Tri-Counties Regional Center, which serves Ventura County along with Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. Private payers receive a superbill to submit to their insurer. The Village insurance guide and our page on payment options have the details.
What do Toluca Lake parents ask us?
Do you have a location in Toluca Lake?
No, and you won't need one. Our therapists travel to Toluca Lake homes and schools, and video works too. Our single clinic, in Westlake Village, opens December 1, 2026.
Can you see my child at Toluca Lake Elementary or a private school?
Either one can work. Sign a consent form, and once the school is on board, we take it from there. We contact the staff, choose a time, and confirm the room. Preschools and daycares are no different.
What if my child is chatty at home but quiet with other kids?
That's worth a free call. Social communication therapy works on how children join conversations and play with others. On the call, we can talk through whether it fits.
“Talk to your child’s doctor if you have any concerns.”
Roughly 17 percent of children ages 3 to 17 have at least one developmental disability, per the CDC. Questions like yours are common.
If a question about your child won't leave you alone, bring it to us as it is. There is no wrong way to start that conversation.
