Maybe your child melts down when socks or sleeves feel wrong. Or maybe a teacher says cutting and coloring are much harder for your child than for classmates. Pediatric occupational therapy in West Hollywood can come to your home. With an occupational therapist, a child works on fine motor skills, coordination, and self-care. OT also covers sensory processing, meaning how a child takes in touch and sound. Sessions are play with a goal, and parents learn what to try again later. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

In West Hollywood, where can OT happen?

At home: the city falls within our home-visit area. School sessions need your consent in writing, plus the school's okay.

Our team then sorts out the timing and a good room with the school, preschool, or daycare staff. Video sessions work too, and families may go back and forth between video and home visits. If you ask, the evaluation can also happen at a private Townsgate Road office in Westlake Village. When our clinic there opens on December 1, 2026, OT evaluations will be able to use its soft play area, which measures 1,000 square feet.

Which skills does pediatric occupational therapy in West Hollywood build?

Hand skills, body coordination, everyday self-care, and how a child takes in touch, sound, and movement.

Feeding therapy is one of the services an OT can lead. So is developmental delay therapy, for skills that come in late. Sensory integration therapy helps a child who is overwhelmed by sensations, or who looks for a lot of them. In handwriting and fine motor therapy, children practice holding a pencil, forming letters, cutting, and buttoning.

Where can West Hollywood kids climb, move, and play?

In city parks. The City of West Hollywood lists a playground at West Hollywood Park, 647 N. San Vicente Boulevard. Another is at Plummer Park, which it lists as open daily from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

In October 2026, the city listed its Tot Time program, for ages 3 and a half to 5, on Monday to Thursday afternoons. The listing placed it in the Tot Room at the West Hollywood Park Aquatic and Recreation Center. The listing said kids build skills through arts and crafts, music and movement, children's books, and learning numbers and letters.

The city also listed sports skills classes at West Hollywood Park and Plummer Park on Saturdays and Sundays, with ages that vary by class. It listed swim lessons at its rooftop Aquatic Center, which is open year-round.

How do Lanterman and LAUSD handle the move to school services?

Lanterman Regional Center's area includes ZIP code 90069; in other West Hollywood ZIP codes, check which regional center serves you. On its website, Lanterman explains that at 2 years and 8 months, the Early Start service coordinator refers a child to LAUSD.

The same page says LAUSD has 15 days to respond to the referral. The IEP timeline is 60 days, not counting school breaks longer than 5 days.

In school, LAUSD offers adapted PE, a program of gross motor activities, games, sports, and rhythms. To get it, a student must qualify for special education. If you agree in writing, we can share updates with the school team.

How fast can OT start in West Hollywood?

Quickly: the evaluation comes within three business days of your free consultation.

Sessions don't wait for paperwork; the first can come 5 days after your call. The written report is delivered by the fourteenth business day after the evaluation, along with a plan if OT is recommended. Rush evaluations can be arranged. As of October 2026, families do not have to join a waiting list for home or video OT.

Our occupational therapy is shaped by Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L. She co-founded Therapy Clubhouse and still treats children.

How can West Hollywood families pay for OT?

West Hollywood families can use insurance through Village, our partner, or pay privately. Your plan decides which makes sense, and we check it together.

PPO plans from several major insurers can be used through Village, and so can TRICARE. Village charges a separate fee for each visit. Paying privately? Ask for the superbill and send it to your insurer to request out-of-network payment. Read about Village insurance or every payment option.

“Let your child use a cup without a lid for drinking and practice eating with a spoon. Learning to eat and drink is messy but fun!”
