You may want to know more before you book. Speech and occupational therapy in Westwood can begin at home, at your pace. Our licensed speech and occupational therapists see Westwood kids, from babies to 18. We meet at home, at school, or in video sessions. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Feel free to call before you decide anything.

Do you come to Westwood homes and schools?

Which district and regional center does Westwood belong to?

LAUSD, short for the Los Angeles Unified School District, is in charge of the public schools here. For developmental services, the state lists Westwood among the communities Westside Regional Center serves.

Two neighborhood schools

Warner Avenue Elementary, on Holmby Avenue, and Fairburn Avenue Elementary, on Fairburn Avenue, both teach kindergarten through grade 5.

A concern about learning

LAUSD's Child Find page puts the principal of your neighborhood public school first for a child in TK or older. Younger children, once they reach 2 years 10 months, go to LAUSD's Early Childhood Special Education office.

The regional center

Westside Regional Center's Early Start Program serves babies and toddlers until age 3, when the Lanterman Program takes over. The office is on Aviation Boulevard in El Segundo, in the same building as the Westside Family Resource and Empowerment Center.

The Westwood Branch Library is on Glendon Avenue. Westwood Recreation Center, on Sepulveda Boulevard, lists Aidan's Place Playground among its features.

What happens before speech and occupational therapy in Westwood begins?

A free phone consultation and, if it makes sense, an evaluation. The call lasts about 15 minutes, and you speak with a licensed therapist.

We can schedule a Westwood evaluation within 3 business days of the call and hold it wherever suits you: home, school, or video. Each evaluation has its own page, one for speech evaluations and one for OT evaluations. A written report follows the evaluation by no more than 14 business days, with a treatment plan when therapy is recommended.

Can a Westwood family get every service you offer?

Nearly every one. The one exception is social skills groups, a Westlake Village offering. All the other services can happen in your Westwood home or at your child's school.

Westwood families can choose OT for handwriting and homework, or therapy for tongue thrust and mouth habits. Another choice is one-on-one parent coaching, ideally after an evaluation. Each discipline has its lead. OT has Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, at its head, and speech has Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. Both are co-founders. See every service in one list.

How would a Westwood family pay?

Through insurance, by way of our partner Village, or by paying privately. Village's billing covers TRICARE and also PPO plans from several major insurers, and there's a Village fee with every visit.

Westwood is in Westside Regional Center's area. We do regional center work only with Tri-Counties, whose counties lie to the northwest. So regional center funding through us isn't available here. Private payers get a superbill. Learn how Village handles insurance and what payment choices we offer.

What else do Westwood parents want to know?

Do we need to drive to Westlake Village for therapy?

No. We see children where their day already happens: at home, at school, or over video. If you'd rather come to us, the Westlake Village clinic opens December 1, 2026.

Could you work with my child at Warner Avenue or Fairburn?

Yes. Once you've signed a consent form and the school agrees, we set it up with the staff directly. That includes a time and a room that suits the session. Private schools, preschools, and daycares follow the same steps.

What does an evaluation tell us?

An evaluation shows where a child's skills are today and which kind of support, if any, would help. The written report lays it out for you.
