Maybe a preschool teacher has told you that your child can be hard to understand. Or maybe getting dressed, brushing teeth, or a haircut ends in tears more often than not. Speech and occupational therapy in the Hollywood Hills can start at home, with no trip down the hill. Our licensed speech and occupational therapists work with Hollywood Hills children, from babies to 18-year-olds. We meet in hillside homes and in schools, and we also meet online. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Pick up the phone whenever you're ready.

Do you come up into the Hollywood Hills?

Yes. The hills are inside our home-visit area. A signed consent also lets a therapist meet your child at their school, preschool, or daycare.

The City of Los Angeles describes the Hollywood Hills as straddling the Cahuenga Pass within the Santa Monica Mountains. The city also notes that the area is home to the Hollywood Bowl and is made up of several distinct neighborhoods. Its Council District 4 page lists places such as Laurel Canyon, Nichols Canyon, Beachwood Canyon, and Hollywood Dell.

Below the hills, we also visit West Hollywood, Toluca Lake, and Studio City.

Who runs the schools in the Hollywood Hills, and which regional center applies?

The Los Angeles Unified School District serves the Hollywood Hills. For a child under 3, the regional center depends on your ZIP code. We could not find one official source that names a single center for the whole area.

    A school in the hills

Valley View Elementary, on Woodrow Wilson Drive, was established in 1917 and describes itself as nestled in the Hollywood Hills.

    Finding the right office

LAUSD's Child Find page sorts families by age. School-age children start with the principal of their assigned public school. Preschool-age children start with LAUSD's Early Childhood Special Education office. For the youngest, the starting point is one of the county's regional centers, which the page lists.

    Neighborhood councils

More than one neighborhood council covers the hills. The Hollywood United Neighborhood Council, for one, runs from Cahuenga to Western and from Hollywood Boulevard up to the Hollywood Sign.

For outdoor time, the city lists a children's play area at Lake Hollywood Park on Canyon Lake Drive and at Runyon Canyon Park on North Fuller Avenue.

How does speech and occupational therapy in the Hollywood Hills get underway?

It opens with a free 15-minute consultation by phone. A licensed therapist hears what you're seeing in the hills and helps you judge whether an evaluation should come next.

Once you both agree on an evaluation, the hills are no obstacle. We schedule it within 3 business days, in your living room, in your child's classroom, or over video. Our speech evaluation overview and our OT evaluation overview explain each part. Expect the written findings inside 14 business days, plus a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.

Can you bring every service to the Hollywood Hills?

Every service except the social skills groups, which only meet in Westlake Village. The others can come to your home in the hills or to your child's school.

Hollywood Hills children can have articulation therapy for kids who are hard to understand. There is also feeding therapy for short food lists, and occupational therapy for daily routines like dressing. Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, who co-founded the practice, is in charge of speech. Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, her fellow co-founder, is in charge of OT. Here is the complete list of what we offer.

What does therapy cost in the Hollywood Hills?

The answer turns on your insurance. Hollywood Hills families with TRICARE, or with a PPO from one of several major insurers, can use that coverage through our partner Village. Village adds its own charge to every visit.

We are a provider for Tri-Counties Regional Center, whose area is Ventura, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara counties. It does not serve Hollywood Hills families. Your two options are Village and paying privately; we give private-pay families a superbill to submit to their insurer. How Village insurance works and ways to pay for therapy go deeper.

What do families in the Hollywood Hills ask us?

Do you have an office in Hollywood?

No. Hollywood Hills children are seen in their own homes, at school, or over video. We have one clinic, in Westlake Village, and it opens December 1, 2026.

Can therapy happen at Valley View or another school?

Yes. Give us your written consent, and once the school agrees, we choose a time with the staff. We also check that the room works for a session.

Can you help when a child eats very few foods?

Yes. Feeding therapy helps children who eat a short list of foods or find mealtimes stressful. Speech or OT takes the lead, depending on what the evaluation finds.

“Language is a set of shared rules that allow people to express their ideas in a meaningful way.”

NIDCD, Speech and Language Developmental Milestones

Speech sound disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, affect an estimated 8 to 9 percent of young children, according to NIDCD statistics.

If daily routines or words have been harder than you expected, you are right to look into it. Start with a short call, and we'll go from there together.
