What does a pediatric OT evaluation in North Hollywood cover?
The evaluation begins as a conversation about your child's history and the things you have noticed. Play follows, with tests picked for your child's age mixed in.
In play, the therapist may see how your child grips, handles different textures, and plans a movement. What you report from home carries weight next to the test results.
Your child's age decides which tests are used. They may include the Sensory Profile 2, DTVP-3, BOT-3, DAYC-2, and PDMS-3. A toddler may need short stretches with breaks.
Where will I be while my child works with the therapist?
With a child under 3, you stay at your child's side. Older children usually go to a different room with the therapist.
If feeding is the focus, the therapist might ask for certain foods ahead of time. In every other case, the therapist brings the materials.
Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, co-founded this practice and leads each OT evaluation herself. Our OT evaluation page has the full picture. Our page on OT in North Hollywood covers what can follow.
What will I receive afterward, and what if OT is not the next step?
After the evaluation, the written report reaches you in 14 business days or less. When therapy is recommended, a therapy plan is attached.
The report is in plain words and names your child's strengths, along with a specific recommendation. If OT is not the answer, the report says so. The therapist also tells you what to watch for.
Therapy can begin before the report is finished. The soonest first session at home or by video is 5 days after your call.

Can we use our insurance for the evaluation?
Insurance is an option through Village, which bills your plan. The evaluation itself is a clinical service.
Your bill is the copay or deductible that your plan sets, plus Village's own per-visit fee. Coverage depends on your plan. TRICARE is among the plans on Village's list, and the list also takes in PPO plans from several major insurers.
On the free call, we look over your coverage together, well before any commitment. Families who pay privately receive a superbill, and your insurer decides whether to reimburse. Take your plan questions to a free consultation.
