Pediatric occupational therapy in North Hollywood, from pencil grip to the playground
From shoelaces to swings, a licensed OT works on the skills behind your child's day. Visits happen at home, on video, or at school with your consent.
Birth through age 18
Living room, classroom, or video call
Home or video, change anytime
Maybe buttons and zippers turn every school morning into a standoff. Or maybe a teacher mentioned that writing seems to wear your child out. Pediatric occupational therapy in North Hollywood can start at your kitchen table. OT, short for occupational therapy, is about the daily skills behind play, school, and self-care. Think hand use, balance, and how a child copes with noise, textures, and motion. Sessions are built from play, and you learn ways to carry the practice into your routines. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Could the OT work with my child at home in North Hollywood?
Yes. We visit homes in North Hollywood, and video sessions are available too. You can switch between them at any point.
Classroom sessions are possible as well, at public or private schools, preschools, and daycares. They need your signed consent first, and the school has to say yes. Our team then works out the time and room details with the staff. If you would rather do the OT evaluation in an office, just ask: a private one on Townsgate Road, in Westlake Village, can be arranged. That road is also where our clinic will open on December 1, 2026, at number 2535, with 8 treatment rooms. Once it opens, OT evaluations can also use its soft play area, which spans 1,000 square feet.

What does pediatric occupational therapy in North Hollywood cover?
The skills behind a child's day: hands, movement, self-care, and how a child handles sound and touch. Feeding is on the list as well.
Handwriting and fine motor therapy takes on pencil grip, letter shapes, cutting, and buttons. If sound, touch, or movement feels like too much for a child, or never enough, sensory integration therapy may help. Developmental delay therapy is for motor or self-care skills that arrive late. For mealtime struggles, an OT can lead feeding therapy, depending on your child's age and what you notice.
Each plan includes parent coaching, so the work carries into mornings, meals, and homework.
What OT help do North Hollywood schools list for students?
On Ethel Avenue, LAUSD's Saticoy Elementary lists occupational therapy among its special education staff roles. The same page lists an adaptive physical education teacher, assistive technology, and a physical therapist.
School OT is about learning at school, and the district sets who qualifies. Private OT can also take on self-care, meals, and routines at home. With your permission, we can work with teachers and staff.
California's school directory shows Lankershim Elementary, on Bakman Avenue, and Oxnard Street Elementary as public schools for kindergarten to grade 5. Both have North Hollywood addresses.
School-based OT is familiar to Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L. As a co-founder, she leads our OT. Her experience includes a year in LAUSD schools as a contracted school-based OT.
Where can North Hollywood kids tumble, dance, and play?
At city recreation centers. In October 2026, the city's parks department listed gymnastics and dance at Valley Plaza Recreation Center on Archwood Street.
Valley Plaza's page also listed arts and crafts, a children's play area, and an outdoor gym without weights. North Hollywood Recreation Center, on Chandler Boulevard, had martial arts, skating and skateboarding, and dance on its program list in October 2026.
If a class like tumbling or crafts seems to frustrate your child, tell us about it when we talk.
What can younger North Hollywood kids join before kindergarten?
In October 2026, the city's page for Victory Vineland Recreation Center listed Preschool among its cultural programs. The center, at 11117 Victory Boulevard, also listed a children's play area.
LAUSD's Fair Avenue Early Education Center, on Kittridge Street, serves children ages 2 to 5. It says it cares for the whole child, helping students develop cognitive, social, emotional, and physical skills to get ready for kindergarten and beyond.
In October 2026, the Valley Plaza Branch Library's web page included sensory kits in its list of resources.
How soon could OT start for my child?
Book the free consultation. If an OT evaluation is the right next step, it follows within 3 business days.
A first OT session can come before the report, at the soonest 5 days after you call. Rush evaluations can be set up too, if a family asks. Fourteen business days after the evaluation is the outside limit for the written report. A treatment plan comes with it if OT is recommended. As of October 2026, families can start home or video OT here without joining a waiting list. One therapist stays with your child from session to session.

Which payment options do North Hollywood families have for OT?
Two of them. You can pay privately, or use insurance through Village, our partner. Plans differ, so we look at yours together.
Village is a network of pediatric providers. It holds contracts with insurers and does the billing, while our therapist treats your child. On its list: PPO coverage from several major insurers, plus TRICARE. Through Village, you pay what your plan sets, like a copay or deductible, plus Village's own per-visit fee. If you pay privately, you will get a superbill that you can send to your insurer. Read more about insurance through Village, or see all the ways to pay.
OT questions we hear in North Hollywood
Can OT focus on handwriting?
Yes. A plan can center on handwriting, with activities such as sketching, drawing within lines, or copying dotted lines. What fits depends on age and the evaluation.
What if the evaluation lands on a rough day?
Then we try again at a different time. No child should leave feeling they did something wrong.
Do we have to go through the regional center first?
No. You can call us directly for private OT. It is not run through NLACRC, the North Los Angeles County Regional Center.
Families in Van Nuys and Lake Balboa can get occupational therapy from us as well. There is also speech therapy in North Hollywood, and the North Hollywood page lists everything else.
