Maybe getting out the door each morning is a battle over socks, shoes, and the feel of certain clothes. Or maybe a preschool teacher said your child isn't joining in at circle time. Speech and occupational therapy in Valley Village can work around those very moments, at home. Every therapist on our team is licensed in speech or occupational therapy. We see Valley Village children from birth to 18 at home and at school, with video sessions too. No diagnosis or referral is needed. It starts with a phone call.

Do you visit homes in Valley Village?

Yes. After you sign a written consent, we can also see your child during the day at school, preschool, or daycare.

Valley Village was founded in 1939 and became its own community after residents petitioned the Los Angeles City Council. Its neighborhood council covers the area bounded by Burbank Boulevard, the 170, the 101, and the Tujunga Wash.

We also visit nearby North Hollywood, Valley Glen, and Studio City.

Which district runs Valley Village schools, and which regional center serves it?

LAUSD runs them, as part of its North Hollywood and Valley Village network. For regional center services, Valley Village is in the San Fernando Valley, the area North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) serves.

    A school in the neighborhood

Burbank Boulevard Elementary calls itself a small community elementary school in the heart of Valley Village. Despite the name, it is a Los Angeles Unified school, not part of Burbank Unified.

    Starting the school conversation

LAUSD's Child Find page explains the first step for a child in TK or older. Parents talk with the principal of their assigned school. Younger children, from 2 years 10 months and not yet in school, are routed to LAUSD's Early Childhood Special Education office.

    Applying to the regional center

Under 3, families apply to NLACRC through Early Start; for children over 3, there is a separate application. Both go in by email.

Valley Village Park, on Westpark Drive, lists a children's play area and walking paths.

What should we expect when we start speech and occupational therapy in Valley Village?

First, a free phone conversation. It lasts about 15 minutes, and the person you talk with is a licensed therapist.

If an evaluation would help, it can happen at your Valley Village home, at school, or over video within 3 business days. Families who'd like to start right away can begin therapy as soon as 5 days after that first call. Step-by-step guides cover the speech evaluation and the OT evaluation. You'll get the report in writing within 14 business days, plus a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.

Do all of your services come to Valley Village?

Yes, apart from social skills groups, a Westlake Village program. Any other service can happen in a Valley Village home or school.

For Valley Village kids, that means options like occupational therapy for dressing and the feel of clothes, and sensory integration therapy. There is also social communication therapy for joining in at circle time. Both disciplines are run by co-founders: OT by Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, and speech by Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. Our services page lists everything.

How does insurance work for Valley Village families?

It runs through our partner Village. Village takes TRICARE; PPO plans from several major insurers are accepted too. Each visit also carries Village's own fee.

There's no regional center option through us in Valley Village. NLACRC serves the area, and we're only a provider for Tri-Counties Regional Center. Paying privately is the other choice, and it comes with a superbill. See Village's insurance overview or all the ways families pay.

What else do Valley Village parents ask?

Do you have a Valley Village office?

No office here: therapy comes to you, at home or at school, or happens online. December 1, 2026, is when our Westlake Village clinic opens.

Can you help with getting dressed and morning battles?

Yes. Occupational therapy works on everyday skills like dressing and handling the feel of clothes. Your therapist shares strategies for your real routines at home.

Can you see my child at preschool?

Yes. Once you've given written consent, we get in touch with the preschool. We set a time that works for them and make sure the room suits the session. Schools and daycares are handled the same way.

“A baby's cry, smile, and responses to you help you to understand their needs.”

About 1 child in 5 starts talking or using words later than peers the same age, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Hard mornings and hard evenings are worth talking about. If they keep happening, reach out, and we'll help you figure out what would make them easier.
