Maybe your child steers clear of the playground climber, or trips more than other kids their age. Or maybe a teacher mentioned that your child's speech is hard to follow in class. Speech and occupational therapy in Valley Glen can begin in your home. Our licensed therapists, in speech and in occupational therapy, work with Valley Glen children from newborns to 18. We meet in the house or at school, and video sessions work too. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Valley Glen parents can call to start.
Do you make home visits in Valley Glen?
We do. With your written consent, a therapist can also see your child at school, at preschool, or in daycare.
The Greater Valley Glen Council describes its area as part of the South Valley district of the San Fernando Valley. In that description, the district also includes Valley Village, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Toluca Lake, and North Hollywood. Local schools and parks use Van Nuys or North Hollywood mailing addresses.
We also visit nearby Valley Village, Van Nuys, and North Hollywood.

Tell us what you are noticing about your child. A licensed therapist reads every message, not an assistant, and replies within one business day. The consultation is free, lasts about 15 minutes, and carries no obligation. There is no waiting list. If you would rather talk now, call (805) 702-3427.
Where do Valley Glen families turn for school and regional center help?
Public schools here belong to LAUSD's Van Nuys and Valley Glen network. The regional center is North Los Angeles County Regional Center, known as NLACRC, which serves the whole San Fernando Valley.
Erwin Elementary on Erwin Street and Kittridge Street Elementary on Kittridge Street are two of the network's elementary schools.
LAUSD's Child Find page names one first stop for a child in TK or older. That stop is the principal of the school your home address is zoned for. Children from 2 years 10 months who aren't in school yet go through an LAUSD office called Early Childhood Special Education.
There are two NLACRC applications, one for Early Start before age 3 and one for children over 3. Both can be sent by email.
LA Recreation and Parks lists Valley Glen Community Park, formerly Erwin Park, at Erwin Street and Ethel Avenue, among the City's universally accessible playgrounds.
Is there a waiting list for speech and occupational therapy in Valley Glen?
No, not as of October 2026. A licensed therapist talks with you first, free, for about 15 minutes. The evaluation can be on the schedule 3 business days later at most.
We can evaluate a Valley Glen child at home, at school, or by video, whichever fits. Our speech evaluation explainer and OT evaluation explainer cover the details. Within 14 business days, you'll have the written report, and a treatment plan with it if therapy is recommended.
Which services can Valley Glen families have at home?
Everything we offer can come to Valley Glen homes and schools, except social skills groups. Those are in Westlake Village.
That includes occupational therapy for coordination, like climbing and catching, articulation therapy for speech that is hard to follow, and developmental delay therapy. Valley Glen families get the same clinical leadership as everyone else, from our two founders. Their fields are occupational therapy (Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L) and speech (Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP). Our full service list has the rest.
How do Valley Glen families pay?
Through insurance or privately. For insurance, our partner Village handles TRICARE claims and claims to PPO plans from several major insurers. It adds a fee of its own per visit.
Valley Glen is in NLACRC's area. Tri-Counties Regional Center is the only regional center we're a provider for, and its area covers three counties: San Luis Obispo, Ventura, and Santa Barbara. So in Valley Glen, it's Village or paying privately, with a superbill for anyone who pays privately. Read about insurance through Village and about our other payment options.
What else do Valley Glen parents ask?
Do you have an office close to Valley Glen?
Not nearby. The only clinic we have is in Westlake Village, opening December 1, 2026. Valley Glen families don't need it, since a therapist comes to you, or you meet by video.
Our address says Van Nuys. Do you still come?
Yes. Van Nuys and North Hollywood are both inside our home-visit area too, so the mailing name on your address doesn't matter.
Can therapy take place at my child's school?
Yes, with two things in place: your signed consent and a yes from the school. We then reach out to the staff, agree on a time, and check the room. That covers private schools, preschools, and daycares as well.
“It's important to have your child evaluated if you are concerned about your child's language development.”
Getting help is common. About six in ten kids with a voice, speech, or language disorder, ages 3 to 17, had some kind of intervention within a year, NIDCD figures show.
If your child's play, movement, or speech keeps giving you pause, you are right to look closer. We're glad to talk it through with you.
