Pediatric speech therapy in Chatsworth, from first babbles to the teen years
Late words, tangled sounds, a stutter, or trouble joining a conversation can all be part of speech therapy. In Chatsworth, it takes place in your home, at a school, or through a screen.
Birth through age 18
Your home, a school with consent, or video
One therapist for every visit
Maybe bedtime stories end with your three-year-old pointing at pictures instead of naming them. Or maybe the pediatrician asked how many words your child uses, and the question stuck with you. Pediatric speech therapy in Chatsworth can meet you in your own living room. Speech therapy helps a child understand what people say, put words together, say sounds clearly, and talk smoothly. A speech therapist turns that work into play. Parents pick up tricks for everyday moments. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Can our Chatsworth living room be the therapy room?
Yes. Chatsworth is in our home-visit area. Besides home, a school or a video call can work.
A school visit, at a public or private campus, needs your signature on a consent form and the school's okay. Preschools and daycares count too. After that, our team checks in with the staff about timing and looks over the space.
Video is the third choice. Families can trade a home visit for video, or the other way around, at any point.
Evaluations have one more possible spot, on request: a private, secure office on Townsgate Road, in Westlake Village. December 1, 2026, brings our clinic at 2535 Townsgate Road, with 8 treatment rooms.

Which needs does pediatric speech therapy in Chatsworth take on?
Trouble understanding or using words, sounds that come out muddled, stuttering, and the social side of conversation.
Language therapy suits a child who started talking late, or one who struggles to follow directions or find the right word. For sounds that come out unclear, there is articulation therapy. Stuttering therapy is for a child whose words repeat or get stuck. And social communication therapy works on the give-and-take of talking and playing with others.
Childhood apraxia of speech, a problem with planning the movements of speech, is treated here too. So are tongue, lip, and jaw habits, through myofunctional therapy. Feeding therapy is offered too.
Where can a Chatsworth child read with a volunteer, or a dog?
At the Chatsworth Branch Library. In October 2026, the branch's event pages listed two monthly STAR reading times, where a child reads to a volunteer or listens to one.
The first-Wednesday time was listed for 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Children's Area, until March 3, 2027. The third-Wednesday time was listed for 10:30 a.m., until Thursday, December 17, 2026. Come to three STAR events at the branch, both pages said, and a reader takes home a free book.
In October 2026, the branch also listed a reading time with trained therapy dogs. Kids could read aloud to them on the fourth Saturday at 11:30 a.m., until Sunday, December 27, 2026.
The branch page names Spanish among its language collections, and Book Bundles To Go under Resources & Services. If Spanish is spoken in your home, tell us on the free call. We will be honest about what we can and cannot offer.
Is my child too young or too old for speech therapy?
No. We see children from birth to 18.
Older students can have sessions at school too. That takes your written okay and a yes from the school. Ernest Lawrence Middle, on Variel Avenue, is one of Chatsworth's LAUSD public schools. The California School Directory lists it for grades 6 to 8.
Four-year-olds have a public option too. LAUSD's early childhood division says Transitional Kindergarten, or TK, costs families nothing. Any child who turns four on or before September 1 of the school year can attend, at district elementary schools.
Does the regional center look at a child's language?
It does, for provisional eligibility. North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) names understanding and using language as one of five areas it weighs.
Its provisional eligibility page names some requirements. One is a disability that is not only physical. Another is significant limits in at least two of the five areas. The five are self-care, understanding and using language, learning, mobility, and self-direction. A provisionally eligible child gets reassessed before age five.
None of that is required to start private speech therapy with us. That is a separate path, paid with insurance through Village or privately.
How long until a Chatsworth child's first session?
It can be a matter of days. If an evaluation makes sense, it follows your free consultation within 3 business days.
Therapy can start before the report is written. Day 5 after your first call is the soonest a first session can happen. If the evaluation needs to happen sooner, ask about a rush evaluation. As of October 2026, Chatsworth families can start home or video speech therapy without waiting on a list. Expect the written report no later than the 14th business day after the evaluation. If it recommends therapy, a therapy plan comes with it.
Speech therapy at Therapy Clubhouse is run by Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. Her B.S. and M.S. both come from California State University, Northridge, and she co-founded the practice.
Will our health plan help pay for speech therapy?
It may, through our partner Village, depending on your plan. Paying privately is the other route.
Village bills TRICARE. PPO plans from several major insurers go through Village as well, and Village sets its own fee for each visit. With private pay, we hand you a superbill, and you decide whether to file it with your insurer. Details are on our page about insurance through Village and in the full list of payment options.

Do we need a pediatrician's referral to start?
No. You can reach out on your own, with no referral and no diagnosis. If you plan to use insurance, some plans require a referral for coverage, and we will help you check.
What if the evaluation shows therapy isn't needed?
Then you'll hear that from us, plainly. If therapy isn't the right next step, we won't suggest it.
Can we mix home visits and video sessions?
Yes. Some weeks can be home visits and others video, and switching back and forth is fine at any time.
Speech therapy also comes to children in Porter Ranch, Northridge, and Granada Hills. In Chatsworth, occupational therapy is offered too, and the Chatsworth page covers both.
