Pediatric occupational therapy in Chatsworth, from buttons to balance

Sock seams, shirt buttons, wobbly balance, and a noisy room that feels like too much: OT works on moments like these. Chatsworth kids can do it at home, at school, or by video.

Maybe mornings stall at the sock drawer, or your child steers clear of the climbing equipment other kids rush toward. Or maybe a preschool teacher mentioned that scissors and crayons look hard. Pediatric occupational therapy in Chatsworth can happen in your home. OT helps a child use their hands, keep their balance, dress, eat, and cope with noise, touch, and motion. Sessions are built around play, and parents pick up a trick or two to try. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

At-home OT in Chatsworth: is that an option?

Yes. We visit homes in Chatsworth. Your child's school, or a video session, can work instead.

School sessions need two things: your written consent, and a green light from the school. That can mean a school, public or private, or a preschool or daycare. Next, our team agrees on timing with the staff and confirms the room suits OT. Swapping home visits for video, or back again, is fine whenever you choose.

If an office setting feels better for the evaluation, just ask. We can set it up in a private Townsgate Road office in Westlake Village. Our clinic, at 2535 Townsgate Road, will add 8 treatment rooms when it opens on December 1, 2026. OT evaluations there can also use the soft play area, which covers 1,000 square feet.

Which everyday skills can pediatric occupational therapy in Chatsworth support?

Hand and pencil skills, balance and coordination, dressing and other self-care, and how a child handles sensations.

For grip, letter shapes, cutting, and buttons, we offer handwriting and fine motor therapy, built around play. A child who dodges certain sounds, textures, or motion, or who craves more of them, may be a fit for sensory integration therapy. When motor or self-care skills show up later than expected, there is developmental delay therapy.

Feeding therapy has two possible leads, an OT or a speech-language pathologist. The evaluation decides which one, going by age and by what you see at meals.

Where can Chatsworth kids climb, splash, and explore?

City parks here list play areas, a splash pad, and trails. Chatsworth Park North, at 22300 Chatsworth Street, lists a children's play area. In October 2026, the city's page for Mason Recreation Center also listed a splash pad. Check that page before you go.

Chatsworth Oaks Park, at 9301 Valley Circle Boulevard, lists a play area too. In October 2026, its city page described a playground replacement project. That page said the project includes removing the old play area, putting in a new one with safety surfacing, and path of travel improvements. Check the park's page for the latest before you go.

Stoney Point Park, on Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Chatsworth Street and the 118 Freeway, lists a hiking trail and rock climbing. If climbing or uneven ground is a struggle, that is good to mention when we talk.

Are there Chatsworth classes where kids move and make things?

The city lists some. In October 2026, Mason Recreation Center's page listed program types such as dance, martial arts, preschool, parent and child, and arts and crafts.

In October 2026, the Chatsworth Branch Library listed a monthly LEGO building time. It was set for the fourth Wednesday at 4 p.m., until Thursday, November 26, 2026. It welcomed kids ages four and older, with a suggested theme each month, and said builders' creations would be displayed in the library.

Can private OT run alongside school support in Chatsworth?

Yes. Private OT is not a replacement for school services. It works next to them. Once you agree in writing, our team can talk with the school, too.

Through an IEP, or Individualized Education Program, a school gives therapy tied to learning goals. LAUSD's Region North special education team lists several services. Among them are related services, early childhood special education, and inclusion program support.

How soon can a Chatsworth child start OT?

It can start soon. When an evaluation is the right step, it takes place no more than three business days after your free consultation.

Want OT to begin before the report is written? The first therapy session can be booked for day 5 after your call, at the earliest. Allow up to 14 business days after the evaluation for the written report. A therapy plan is part of it when therapy is recommended. Need the evaluation sooner? A rush can be requested. And as of October 2026, home or video OT can begin without a waiting list.

Our occupational therapy is headed by Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, who helped found Therapy Clubhouse. Her sessions follow a child's interests and build on what the child already does well.

Which payment routes are open to Chatsworth families for OT?

Two routes: paying privately, or insurance through our partner, Village. Your plan decides which fits.

Families with TRICARE can use Village, and so can families whose PPO plan comes from one of several major insurers. Village charges a separate fee per visit. If you pay privately, you'll receive a superbill to submit to your insurer. Our page on insurance through Village and our payment options page have the details.

Chatsworth OT questions, answered

Our toddler is in Early Start. How often is the plan reviewed?

For children under 3, the intake roadmap from North Los Angeles County Regional Center says IFSPs are held once a year. An IFSP is the written Early Start plan. The roadmap also lists semi-annual, quarterly, and periodic reviews. Private OT with us is separate from that plan.

Can sensory work happen over video?

Yes. Sensory integration therapy can be done by telehealth, using several methods. It needs a parent's help, and the approach depends on your child's age.

The doctor told us to wait and see. Is that okay?

Your pediatrician's view matters. If daily routines are a struggle at home, that alone is a reason to look now. If you would rather wait, we are glad to check in again in a month or two.

OT is also offered in Porter Ranch, Northridge, and Granada Hills. Chatsworth families can add speech therapy, too, and the Chatsworth page shows everything we offer here.
