How soon

From free call to evaluation: 3 business days or fewer

Perhaps a teacher or your child's doctor brought up a speech evaluation. Perhaps no one did, and a small worry of your own keeps returning. A pediatric speech evaluation in Hidden Hills is an assessment built on play.

Children from birth to 18 are welcome. No diagnosis or referral is needed. A licensed speech-language pathologist listens to how a child makes sounds, uses words, and understands what others say.

Can a pediatric speech evaluation in Hidden Hills happen at home, and how quickly?

Yes, we visit homes in Hidden Hills, and a video visit is another choice. When your free call points to an evaluation, it can take place within 3 business days.

A school visit happens only when the school says yes and you have consented in writing. If you would rather meet at an office, ask for the private one in Westlake Village.

For the evaluation, allow about 60 to 90 minutes, set by how the day goes, the number of areas covered, and your child's age. Here, as of October 2026, no waiting list is in place for therapy at home or by video. Reserve a free 15-minute consultation to talk before anything is scheduled.

Has a question about your child's speech stayed with you?

Wondering about the setting? Ask about it on the free call, a short conversation with a licensed therapist.

What does the speech-language pathologist do during the evaluation?

Talk comes first, about your child's history and anything you have noticed. Play follows, with age-matched tests blended in.

In play, the therapist may notice whether your child follows a direction, asks for something wanted, or takes a turn in a game. She may also listen for clear and unclear sounds. What you have seen at home counts too.

At Therapy Clubhouse, which she co-founded, Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, also leads each speech evaluation. The full picture is on our speech evaluation page. Sessions that may follow are covered under pediatric speech therapy in Hidden Hills.

What if therapy is not recommended, and what do I get either way?

Either way, you get a written report after the evaluation, ready within 14 business days. A therapy plan joins that report only when therapy is recommended.

The report names your child's strengths and also gives a specific recommendation. It is written in plain words.

Should the report not recommend therapy, it states that clearly. The therapist then tells you what to keep an eye on.

How can I reach a teacher at Round Meadow Elementary, and what does the counselor do?

The 2026-2027 handbook for Round Meadow Elementary says teachers can meet with parents or guardians in person, by appointment, before or after school. It also says teachers are expected to answer parent questions within 48 hours, weekdays only.

The same handbook describes an on-site elementary school counselor who supports students, parents or guardians, and staff. Those services are given in small groups and as part of the Student Study Team and Individual Education Process, among other ways.

The therapist asks about your child's milestones and how your child is doing at home and at school or daycare.

What do city, school, and library pages say about books and play-based learning?

In a post dated January 14, 2026, the City of Hidden Hills said its new Little Free Library was now at City Hall. It said visitors were welcome to take a book and, when able, leave one for someone else.

On the Media Center site for Round Meadow Elementary, parents and guardians may borrow up to five books at a time. The school's LVUSD+ After School Program page says TK (transitional kindergarten) and kindergarten students receive play-based academic reinforcement.

For home, LA County Library's Early Learners page suggests building your baby's words with simple rhymes.

Can babies and toddlers have a speech evaluation, and what is a developmental screening?

Yes: children can be evaluated from birth, and for a young child the visit is built on play. A developmental screening, explained below, is a set of questions.

Los Angeles County Public Health explains developmental screening on its Help Me Grow LA page. A screening is a set of questions from your child's pediatrician, doctor, nurse, or another professional, such as a teacher. The page says this usually happens at the 9, 18 and 30-months well-child visit.

Help Me Grow LA's FAQ says any family looking for developmental, learning, or behavioral resources for children in Los Angeles County can use it.

Can we use insurance for a speech evaluation?

Yes, insurance can be part of the picture. It runs through Village for this clinical service, and the amount covered depends on the plan.

Village bills the plan. The family's part is whichever copay or deductible the plan sets, with Village's own per-visit charge added. PPO plans offered by several major insurers work with Village, and TRICARE does too.

Choosing private pay means we hand you a superbill. Your insurer decides about possible reimbursement once you submit it. Your coverage gets checked during the free call, and you commit to nothing there.

A few answers before you book

Do I need a doctor's note before I book?

No. You can book the free call, and then the evaluation, with no note and no diagnosis.

When will someone get back to me?

Replies take one business day at most, and a licensed therapist reads each note.

Will we get a bill for the 15-minute call?

The 15-minute call costs nothing and is separate from the evaluation. On it, we can look at your coverage together, with no commitment.

Speech evaluation pages are also live for Agoura Hills, Woodland Hills, and Canoga Park. Hands, movement, and senses are covered by the OT evaluation in Hidden Hills, and the Hidden Hills page is another place to begin.
