Pediatric speech therapy in North Hollywood, built on play, at home or on video
Your child can see a licensed speech-language pathologist at home or on video. With your written consent, school visits can work too.

One familiar face at every visit
Maybe the other two-year-olds at storytime name every animal in the book, and yours mostly points. Or maybe a teacher brought up speech before you did. Pediatric speech therapy in North Hollywood can begin right in your living room. Speech therapy helps with three big jobs: understanding words, using them, and saying sounds clearly. Stuttering and the give-and-take of talking count too. It is done through play, and parents learn small moves to reuse at breakfast or bath time. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Will the speech therapist come to us in North Hollywood?
We can. North Hollywood is in our home-visit area. Video calls work too, and you can trade one for the other whenever you like.
School is another option, public or private, and so are preschools and daycares. Two things come first: your written consent, and the school's okay. After that, we agree on a time with the school and confirm the space works for therapy. Prefer an office for the evaluation? Just ask. We can hold it in Westlake Village, in a private Townsgate Road office. December 1, 2026, is opening day for our clinic at 2535 Townsgate Road. It will have 8 treatment rooms.

Which skills can pediatric speech therapy in North Hollywood work on?
Words, speech sounds, and the flow of talking. Conversation skills, mouth habits, and feeding belong here as well.
Language therapy is for a child who is slow to talk, or who finds words hard to follow or use. Stuttering therapy is for talk that repeats sounds or stalls on words. Therapy for childhood apraxia of speech fits a child who knows what to say but struggles to plan the movements. Social communication therapy works on turn-taking and joining in. Articulation therapy works on sounds that come out unclear. Myofunctional therapy deals with habits of the tongue, lips, and jaw.
Picture boards and speech apps, known as AAC, give a child who says very little another way to be heard. Who leads feeding therapy, speech or OT, is decided at the evaluation. Parent coaching is part of every plan, so practice keeps going between visits.
Heading speech therapy here is Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. She co-founded the practice. Both of her degrees are from California State University, Northridge.
Where can North Hollywood kids hear stories in more than one language?
At the Valley Plaza Branch Library. In October 2026, the library's events page listed a storytime there in English and Spanish.
The listing named it Storytime / Hora de Cuentos, for babies and toddlers. It set the storytime in the Children's Room on Wednesdays, 10:30 to 11:00 AM, through December 23, 2026. It mentioned books, songs, dance, and flannel board fun.
The branch page also lists Armenian and Spanish among its language collections. If your home uses Armenian, Spanish, or another language, mention it on the free call.
Do LAUSD early education centers in North Hollywood work on language?
At least one says it does. LAUSD's Fair Avenue Early Education Center says its program develops literacy skills. Its list includes oral language, listening, speaking, and vocabulary.
That center is at 11300 Kittridge Street. Another LAUSD center sits on Goll Avenue: Arminta Street Early Education Center. It describes an early learning program for young children. It says it respects and values the languages, cultures, and backgrounds of all children and families.
With your written consent and the center's agreement, speech sessions can happen at a preschool.
What speech and hearing support do North Hollywood schools list?
Saticoy Elementary, an LAUSD school on Ethel Avenue, lists several on its special education page. They include a language and speech provider and an audiologist.
It also lists teachers for deaf and hard of hearing (DHH) students, from pre-K through grade 5.
The state's school directory lists two more public schools with North Hollywood addresses. Both teach kindergarten to grade 5. Coldwater Canyon Elementary is marked for multilingual instruction. Victory Boulevard Elementary, on Radford Avenue, is a magnet school.
School speech services support learning, and the district decides who qualifies. Private speech therapy can work alongside them. With your written consent, we can share updates with your child's teachers.
How long until my child's first speech session?
The earliest is five days after your first call. If an evaluation is worth doing, it takes place within three business days of the free consultation.
Sessions can begin while the report is still being written. Need the evaluation sooner? Ask, and we can set up a rush evaluation. Expect the written report in your hands within 14 business days of the evaluation. A therapy plan is included if therapy is recommended. As of October 2026, we have no waiting list for speech visits at home or on video.

Is speech therapy covered by insurance in North Hollywood?
It can be, through our partner Village. Paying privately is the other route. During the free call, we check your coverage with you.
Think of Village as the bridge to your plan. This pediatric provider network holds the contracts with insurers and does the billing. Your child still sees our therapist. PPO plans from several major insurers qualify, and so does TRICARE. With Village, you pay your plan's share, like a copay or a deductible, and a Village fee for each visit. Paying privately instead? We hand you a superbill for your insurer. Learn how Village works with insurance, or compare every way to pay.
