Maybe getting dressed turns into a tug of war each morning, or socks with seams set off tears. Or maybe OT came up at a checkup or a teacher conference, and you are not sure what it involves. Pediatric occupational therapy in Reseda can come to your home. OT stands for occupational therapy. It gives a child practice with daily jobs, such as holding a spoon or crayon, getting dressed, and handling noise, textures, and movement. Sessions look like play, yet every game has a goal behind it. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Can an OT come to our home in Reseda?

Yes. We visit homes in Reseda. Video is also an option, and you can switch between the two whenever you want.

A Reseda classroom can work as well, whether it is in a preschool, a daycare, or a public or private school. Before the first school visit, you give your consent in writing, and the school has to agree. Next, the school and our team pick a time, and we make sure the room suits a session.

If you would rather do the evaluation in an office, just ask. On request, we hold it in Westlake Village, at a private office on Townsgate Road where everything stays confidential and secure.

Opening day for our clinic is December 1, 2026. Its address is 2535 Townsgate Road, and 8 treatment rooms are planned. OT evaluations held at the clinic can also use a soft play area that covers 1,000 square feet.

Is OT the right fit?

Three Reseda options: video, home visits, or a school that agrees to host OT, with your consent.

What can pediatric occupational therapy in Reseda help with?

It works on the skills behind a child's day: hand use and handwriting, coping with sights, sounds, and textures, balance and coordination, and self-care. It can also cover calming down after big feelings.

A child who finds certain sounds, textures, or movements far too intense, or can't get enough of them, may be a match for sensory integration therapy. In handwriting and fine motor therapy, the focus is pencil grip, letter forms, scissors, and buttons. Skills that seem to be running behind can be the focus of developmental delay therapy. OT or speech may lead feeding therapy; the evaluation decides, based on age and what you see at meals.

Sensory work can also be done over video. A parent helps on camera, and the methods vary by age. Every plan comes with parent coaching, so the practice can carry over into mornings and mealtimes.

Where can Reseda kids run, climb, and play ball?

Reseda Recreation Center is one place. The city's page for it lists a playground among its special features. Field space, a picnic area, four tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, and three baseball diamonds are on the list too.

That page also says the center offers youth sports leagues for children 5 to 16 years of age. It adds that persons with disabilities are welcome in its programs, and reasonable accommodations will be made with prior arrangements.

Recreation and Parks also runs PlayLA Youth & Adaptive Youth Sports, a city-wide program for youth of all abilities, ages 5 to 17.

Throwing, catching, and climbing ask the body to plan its moves. If ball games or the jungle gym feel hard for your child, describe it on the free call.

Where can my child try crafts in Reseda?

In October 2026, the West Valley branch of the Los Angeles Public Library, at 19036 Vanowen Street, listed Crafty Kids Corner. The listing showed it at 4 PM on the second Wednesday of the month, through December 9, 2026. Check the library's event page for the exact dates before you go.

It described 3 to 4 craft stations where kids explore and make a craft to take home. It also said all ages are welcome.

Craft tables ask a lot of small hands: snipping, squeezing glue, and holding a crayon. If those jobs bring tears at home, mention it on the free call.

Which Reseda schools have special education programs?

Sven Lokrantz Special Education Center is one. The state lists it as a public special education school on Wyandotte Street, for kindergarten to grade 12.

Garden Grove Elementary's special education page lists Preschool for All Learners, or PALS. The page says the class serves 10 children who are eligible for special education services with moderate to severe needs. An early childhood special education teacher and two assistants staff it, and it meets 4.5 hours a day.

If you agree in writing, we can talk with your child's school team.

How soon can OT start for a Reseda child?

A first OT session can be on the calendar 5 days after your first phone call, at the earliest. Once the free consultation shows an evaluation is the right step, it is held within 3 business days.

OT can begin before the report is finished. Ask, and the evaluation can be rushed. Within 14 business days of the evaluation, you receive the written report; a therapy plan comes with it when OT is recommended.

Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes, and the evaluation about 60 to 90 minutes. As of October 2026, Reseda families starting OT at home or by video have no waiting list ahead of them.

Will insurance help with OT costs in Reseda?

Possibly, if your plan works with our partner Village. If not, private pay is an option.

Village works with TRICARE, plus the PPO plans of several major insurers. You owe what your plan sets, for instance a copay or a deductible, plus a Village fee for every visit. Private pay comes with a superbill for you to send to your insurer. See insurance through Village and our payment options for more.

Reseda OT questions, answered briefly

What do we need for the OT evaluation?

Nothing, apart from feeding evaluations. The OT brings the materials, but for feeding, certain foods may need to be on hand.

What if my child has an off day?

Then we simply try again on another day. A hard day is never treated as the child's fault.

Can my child have OT and speech therapy together?

Yes. When a child needs both, the speech and OT therapists work from one shared plan and keep you in the loop.

Children in Lake Balboa, Winnetka, and Northridge can get OT with us as well. For talking and speech sounds, see speech therapy in Reseda, or visit the Reseda page.
