Pediatric occupational therapy in West Los Angeles, built around your child's day
An occupational therapist can see your child in your West LA home, at school, or by video. For school visits, we first need your signed consent and the school's approval. The work centers on hands, senses, and daily routines.

One OT for all sessions
Mornings may stall over buttons and zippers, or a noisy room may send your child under the table. Or maybe a teacher keeps mentioning scissors and seat work, and someone suggested OT. Pediatric occupational therapy in West Los Angeles can start in your own living room. OT gives a child practice with the skills of daily life. Those include hand use, balance, dressing, and coping with sound and touch. A licensed OT plans each session so it looks like recess. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Would an OT see my child at home in West LA?
Yes. We visit homes in West Los Angeles. Video works too, and so do school sessions, after you sign consent and the school says yes.
Two things open the door to school sessions: your signature on a consent form, and a yes from the school. That works for public or private schools, and for preschools and daycares. Our team then sets a time with the staff and confirms the room fits an OT session.
On request, the evaluation can take place in Westlake Village instead, in a private Townsgate Road office. Our own clinic is coming to 2535 Townsgate Road on December 1, 2026. Inside: 8 treatment rooms and 1,000 square feet of soft play area, which OT evaluations can also use.

Hands, senses, and routines: OT for West LA kids at home or by video, and at school when both you and the school agree.
What does pediatric occupational therapy in West Los Angeles work on?
The skills of a child's day: using the hands, handling sensations, moving with control, and self-care like dressing. Feeding and big feelings can come into it as well.
Handwriting and fine motor therapy focuses on grip, hand strength, letter formation, and scissor skills. Sensory integration therapy helps when noise, textures, or motion overwhelm a child, or when a child seems to need more of them. Developmental delay therapy focuses on skills that have not arrived yet. Either OT or speech can lead feeding therapy; that choice is made at the evaluation.
Handwriting plans are shaped by age and by what the evaluation finds. They can include sketching, copying dotted lines, and drawing within lines. Every plan also includes parent coaching, so the work can carry into your own routines.
Does the West LA library have anything for busy hands?
It does. In October 2026, the Los Angeles Public Library's West Los Angeles Regional Branch listed a drop-in makerspace. The listing set it for every other Tuesday, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with button makers, zine supplies, and basic craft supplies.
It also said an adult must actively supervise children under 14, so it is a chance to make something side by side. Crafts can be part of OT sessions too, along with putty, tweezers games, and mazes.
Sensory Kits appear on the branch's list of resources and services, too. Ask at the branch for details.
What OT support does a West LA elementary school list?
Brockton Avenue Elementary's school profile page lists an adaptive PE teacher and an occupational therapist three times a week.
School OT and private OT answer different questions. Private sessions can focus on goals at home, like dressing and mealtimes. If there is an IEP, we can coordinate with its team, with your permission.
Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, oversees OT at Therapy Clubhouse, which she co-founded. Her past work includes one year as a school-based occupational therapist in LAUSD, through a contracted company.
Where can West LA kids climb, skate, and play sports?
Stoner Recreation Center, on Stoner Avenue, is one spot. A City of Los Angeles park assessment page lists a playground there.
Stoner Recreation Center's own page lists dance, basketball, volleyball, and tennis among its sports and fitness programs. Soccer futsal, skating, and skateboarding are on it too. In October 2026, the city also listed Stoner Skate Park as open 7 days a week.
Climbing and catching both depend on planning and carrying out movements, and OT can work on that motor planning. If the playground or ball games feel like a struggle, bring it up when we talk.
How fast can OT start for a West LA child?
After the free consultation, the evaluation can take place within 3 business days. The earliest a first OT session can happen is 5 days after you call.
OT may begin ahead of the written report. When therapy is recommended, the written report brings a therapy plan with it. Expect that report in 14 business days or less from the evaluation. Short on time? Mention it, and the evaluation can be rushed. As of October 2026, our OT schedule for West LA homes and video sessions has no waiting list.

Can we use insurance for OT in West Los Angeles?
Your plan decides. Some plans can be billed through our partner Village. If yours cannot, or you prefer, you can pay privately and receive a superbill.
Village handles claims for TRICARE and for PPO plans that several major insurers sell. It holds the insurance contracts, does the billing, and charges its own fee per visit. If you pay privately, you can send our superbill to your insurer to ask about reimbursement. We go over your coverage together on the free call. More details are on our pages about insurance through Village and payment options.
Quick answers for West LA families about OT
What should we bring to the OT evaluation?
The therapist brings the materials. If the evaluation is about feeding, you may be asked to have certain foods ready. Any earlier reports are good to keep close by.
Can OT sessions happen by video?
Yes. Video and home visits can be mixed and swapped as you like. When sensory work happens by video, a parent helps hands-on, and the methods depend on your child's age.
How long does the OT evaluation take?
Plan on about 60 to 90 minutes. The exact length shifts with your child's age, the areas being checked, and the kind of day your child is having.
Nearby, Mar Vista, Westwood, and Brentwood have OT pages too. West LA children can get speech therapy with us as well, and our West Los Angeles page covers both.
