Perhaps your two-year-old says only a handful of words. Or maybe a kindergarten teacher has said that classroom directions seem to slip past your child. Pediatric speech therapy in West Los Angeles can come to your living room. In speech therapy, a child works on understanding language, finding words for ideas, and saying sounds clearly. The therapist keeps it playful and coaches parents on practice that fits family life. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Can pediatric speech therapy in West Los Angeles happen at home?

Yes. West Los Angeles is in our home-visit area. Sessions by video are possible too, and a school visit can happen with your written consent and the school's yes.

Before any school visit, you give written consent and the school says yes. Public and private schools both work, and so do preschools and daycares. Then our team settles the timing with school staff and checks that the room will work for speech.

Switching from home visits to video, or back, is up to you at any time.

Would an office be easier for the evaluation? Ask us. We can hold it in a private, secure Townsgate Road office in Westlake Village. As for our own clinic at 2535 Townsgate Road, it opens December 1, 2026. It will hold 8 treatment rooms.

What can speech therapy help with, from first words to stuttering?

Late talking, unclear speech sounds, stuttering, and conversation skills. It can include feeding and mouth habits, too.

Articulation therapy is for speech sounds that come out muddled, so listeners can follow along. Language therapy helps a child make sense of what people say and put thoughts into words. When speech repeats, stretches, or stops on a sound, stuttering therapy can help. Social communication therapy covers turn-taking, reading faces, and staying on topic.

In childhood apraxia of speech, the muscles work, but planning the movements for speech is hard. Myofunctional therapy works on mouth habits, like tongue position at rest and during swallowing. A child who speaks very little may use AAC, which stands for augmentative and alternative communication. Picture boards and speech apps are examples, and they give another way to be understood.

Feeding therapy is part of what we offer, and the evaluation settles whether speech or OT takes the lead. Parent coaching comes with every plan, so practice can follow you into meals, baths, and car rides.

Can a toddler start speech therapy?

Yes. Babies and toddlers can start, and we see kids up to age 18. Sessions for toddlers are built out of play.

In October 2026, the West Los Angeles Regional Branch Library listed Toddler Storytime and Songs for Wednesday mornings, 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. The listing was for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years, with dates into January 2027. It described stories, songs, and movement activities to build early literacy skills.

As your child grows, Stoner Recreation Center is another West LA name to know. Its page lists Preschool among its cultural programs, along with cooking, music, and camps.

What else does the West LA library list for kids and books?

A volunteer reading time, take-home book bundles, and Persian and Spanish collections.

In October 2026, the same branch listed a STAR volunteer reading time every Wednesday from noon to 2:00 p.m. All children were invited to read stories with the volunteer. The listing also promised a free book for coming to three STAR events at the branch.

Book Bundles To Go are on the branch's resources list. Parent coaching helps you turn moments you already have, like a bedtime book, into practice.

If your family speaks Persian, Spanish, or any other language at home, bring that up on the free call.

What speech help does a West LA public school list?

Brockton Avenue Elementary is one example. Its school profile page says the school has a speech therapist daily. The same page lists a resource specialist on-site daily and a school psychologist twice a week.

Private sessions with us can sit alongside what a school provides. For a student with an IEP, we can coordinate with the IEP team, with your permission.

Speech therapy at Therapy Clubhouse has a co-founder at its head: Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. Her clinical work has included school settings, from elementary through high school.

LAUSD's special education division lists contact details for its regional offices. Not sure which region your school belongs to? The page points you to the site's search tool.

How soon could my child start speech therapy?

Your child's first session can come 5 days after your call, at the earliest. When an evaluation makes sense, we hold it within 3 business days, counted from your free consultation.

Therapy can start ahead of the written report. If time matters, request a rush evaluation. If the report recommends therapy, it includes a therapy plan. Count on 14 business days or fewer between the evaluation and the written report. As of October 2026, West LA children who want home or video speech therapy can start without a waiting list.

How do West Los Angeles families pay for speech therapy?

Two ways: private pay, or insurance through our partner Village. Whether insurance is an option depends on your plan.

Village keeps the contracts with insurers and takes care of billing. The therapist your child sees is still ours. PPO members of several major insurers can use Village, and so can TRICARE families. What you owe depends on your plan, such as a copay or a deductible. Each visit also carries a separate Village fee.

With private pay, you get a superbill to send your insurer if you wish. We look at your coverage together on the free call, so you can decide before committing. Learn how insurance through Village works, or compare payment options.
