Pediatric speech therapy in Mar Vista, from babbling to book reports
Sounds, words, stuttering, and the back-and-forth of conversation. A licensed speech-language pathologist can help with each one at home or on video in Mar Vista. A school visit needs your written consent and a yes from that school.
Newborns, toddlers, school kids, and teens up to 18

The longest wait from your free call to the evaluation
Maybe your two-year-old still says one word at a time and has not put two together yet. Or maybe a preschool teacher mentioned speech at pickup, and the word stuck. Pediatric speech therapy in Mar Vista can begin in your own home. Speech therapy helps a child understand what others say, find words to answer, say sounds clearly, and talk more easily. A speech-language pathologist plans each session as play, and parents learn small ways to practice at the dinner table. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Do we have to drive anywhere for speech therapy?
No. We visit homes in Mar Vista. Video is the other everyday choice, and families can trade one for the other whenever they like.
A classroom can work as well. That includes public and private campuses, plus preschools and daycares. Two things open that door: your written consent and a yes from the school. Then our team settles the timing with the school and makes sure the space suits a session.
Want the evaluation done in an office instead? Just ask. There is a private office for that on Townsgate Road, in Westlake Village. Our clinic, with 8 treatment rooms, opens on December 1, 2026, at 2535 Townsgate Road.

Living rooms and video calls in Mar Vista, plus classrooms when the school agrees and you consent.
Is pediatric speech therapy in Mar Vista only about words?
No. It covers understanding and using words, clear speech sounds, smooth talking, and conversation skills. Mouth habits and feeding fit in as well.
Late talking is one reason for language therapy. It also helps with following directions and building sentences. Articulation therapy works on sounds that are hard to understand. Stuttering therapy helps when words repeat or get stuck. Social communication therapy helps with taking turns and joining in.
In childhood apraxia of speech, the mouth muscles work, but planning and timing their moves is hard. Myofunctional therapy looks at where the tongue rests and how the mouth muscles move during swallowing, breathing, and talking. Feeding therapy is on our list as well.
Parent coaching is built into every plan, so practice can carry into bath time, meals, and car rides.
Do Grand View and Mar Vista Elementary have speech staff?
Both list speech staff on their special education pages. Grand View Boulevard Elementary names speech and language therapists. Mar Vista Elementary lists a speech pathologist role.
Grand View's special education page lists a specialized program for speech and language impairments. It names speech and language therapists among the staff resources available to students.
Mar Vista Elementary's special education page also lists a Deaf and hard of hearing role, marked DHH Itinerant.
School services and private speech therapy are not an either-or choice. Once you sign a consent form, our therapist can reach out to your child's teacher. A founder of the practice, Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, directs our speech therapy. Schools are part of her background, at grade levels from elementary up to high school.
Where can Mar Vista kids learn and read in Spanish?
At Grand View Boulevard Elementary and at the Mar Vista Branch Library. Grand View says the first of its three instructional programs is a Spanish Immersion Program.
In October 2026, the Mar Vista Branch Library's page listed a Spanish language collection. Its Resources & Services list also included Book Bundles To Go.
If Spanish or another language is spoken in your home, mention it when we talk. We will be straight with you about which needs we can meet.
Is my 4-year-old old enough for TK this year?
It depends on the birthday. Mar Vista Elementary's eligibility page covers the 2026 to 2027 school year. It says a child entering Transitional Kindergarten (TK) must be 4 years old on or by September 1.
The page lists eligible birth dates from September 2, 2021, to September 1, 2022.
In October 2026, Grand View's TK page described two programs, TK and Extended TK (ETK). It said they are designed to give children an early chance to build skills for a smooth move into kindergarten. Both follow California's kindergarten Common Core standards, the page said, with focused teaching in reading, writing, and number skills.
Speech therapy does not have to wait for school. We see children from birth. Private therapy with us does not depend on the regional center, and no referral is needed.
If we call this week, when could therapy begin?
Session one can land as early as the fifth day after you first phone us. Three business days is the outer limit between your free consultation and the evaluation.
You can start sessions before the written report is in your hands. The evaluation's written report reaches you inside 14 business days. If therapy is recommended, the report includes a plan for it. As of October 2026, nobody in Mar Vista waits on a list for speech therapy with us, at home or on video. In a hurry? A rush evaluation can be requested.
Will our health plan cover speech therapy in Mar Vista?
It might. Coverage runs through Village, our partner on the insurance side, which holds plan contracts and sends the bills. The other route is paying privately, and we check your plan with you during the free call, before anything is booked.
TRICARE is one plan Village can bill. PPO plans sold by several major insurers are others. Village also charges a separate fee at each visit. If you would rather pay on your own, you receive a superbill. You can send it to your insurer, which may repay part of the cost. Read how insurance through Village works, or see our payment options page.
Other speech questions from Mar Vista
People outside the family can't understand my child. Is that a concern?
It depends partly on age. Between ages 2 and 3, a child may still be hard to understand for people who don't know them. Children also vary a lot in how easy their speech is to understand. If the worry stays with you, a speech evaluation checks how your child makes sounds, and the written report gives a specific recommendation.
How long is a speech session?
From 30 to 60 minutes, set by the type of service. An evaluation is longer: plan on about 60 to 90 minutes.
Does my child work with one therapist the whole way?
Yes. The same speech-language pathologist works with your child at every session.
Speech therapy is also available in Palms, West Los Angeles, and Culver City. For occupational therapy in Mar Vista, or for both services in one place, see the Mar Vista page.
