Pediatric speech therapy in Palms for babies, kids, and teens

Speech therapy for Palms children can happen at home or on a video call. School is another option, once you sign consent and the school okays it. Your child works with a licensed speech-language pathologist, the same one every time.

Maybe your child goes quiet when other kids are near, or answers most questions with a shrug. Or maybe a checkup ended with the pediatrician bringing up speech. Pediatric speech therapy in Palms can start right at home. Speech therapy helps a child make sense of words, put ideas into sentences, say sounds clearly, and join a conversation. A speech-language pathologist does this through play, and parents pick up simple ways to help on the walk to the park. No diagnosis or referral is needed.

Could speech therapy happen at our Palms home?

Yes. Palms is in our home-visit area. When a week calls for video instead, that works, and so does switching back.

Sessions can also move to your child's school, preschool, or daycare, public or private. The school must agree, and you must give written consent. Our team then sets up the timing with the staff and makes sure the room is a good fit.

Want the evaluation somewhere else? Just ask for the private office option on Townsgate Road, in Westlake Village. It is confidential and secure. Our clinic at 2535 Townsgate Road is set to open December 1, 2026, and inside are 8 treatment rooms.

Babies to teens in Palms: home visits, video, or school visits the school approves, with your consent.

What can pediatric speech therapy in Palms help with?

First words, clear sounds, smooth speech, and getting along in conversation. Feeding, mouth habits, and picture-based ways to communicate are covered as well.

Language therapy builds understanding, vocabulary, and sentences. A lisp or other unclear sounds can point toward articulation therapy. In stuttering therapy, a child works on speech that repeats or stalls. Social communication therapy is about reading faces, taking turns, and staying on topic.

AAC, short for augmentative and alternative communication, can mean picture boards or speech apps. For a child with few words, they offer another way to be understood. With childhood apraxia of speech, planning and timing the movements for speech is hard. Therapy gives a child lots of practice with them. The tongue's resting spot and swallowing pattern are part of myofunctional therapy. We offer feeding therapy too.

What hearing programs does Palms Elementary list?

Its special education page lists a Special Day Program (SDP) for Deaf or hard of hearing students. It also lists a Low Incidence Learning Center (LILC) for them.

Palms Elementary's page says the SDP serves students who follow the general education (core) curriculum. The program, it says, offers a setting that promotes learning to listen and building language skills.

The LILC serves Deaf or hard of hearing students who are assigned to general education classrooms. Students may get help from an educational audiologist. They may also work with an itinerant (traveling) teacher for Deaf and hard of hearing students. That support can focus on listening skills, speaking up for themselves, communication, and language.

If your child gets services like these, we can talk on the free call about whether private speech therapy fits alongside them. We can also stay in touch with your child's teachers, once you give written consent.

What if my child is starting TK, or already in middle school?

Speech therapy fits both. Our age range runs from birth to 18, and school sessions are possible with your consent and the school's okay.

Palms Elementary's Transitional Kindergarten (TK) page says children can enroll at age 4. It says students learn through guided play and engaging activities. They build early skills in language, math, social-emotional learning, and problem solving.

For older students, the California School Directory lists Palms Middle at 10860 Woodbine Street, ZIP code 90034. It is an active Los Angeles Unified public middle school for grades 6 to 8, marked as a magnet school.

What can a Palms parent and child do together nearby?

In October 2026, the Palms Recreation Center page said Parent and Me classes were available there. It also listed art classes, day camps, sports, and dance and fitness activities.

In October 2026, the Palms-Rancho Park Branch Library's online list of resources and services named Book Bundles To Go. In October 2026, the library also listed the branch as closed from October 19, 2026 to February 7, 2027 for facility maintenance.

Shared books and classes with your child add more moments to talk, sing, and take turns.

How long does it take to get started?

A matter of days. Your child's evaluation fits inside the 3 business days after the free consultation. Session one may follow as soon as the fifth day after you phone.

Nobody has to wait for the written report before therapy starts. Its deadline is 14 business days after the evaluation. A therapy plan is part of it whenever therapy is recommended. Ask, and a rush evaluation can be set up. As of October 2026, Palms children face no waiting list for home or video speech therapy.

The pediatric speech evaluation in Palms has its own page.

Among the founders of the practice is Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. Being a mom herself, she understands the questions that can come with a child's development.

Can Palms families use insurance for speech therapy?

Possibly. Insurance runs through Village, our billing partner, while private pay is the other path. We can review your plan's coverage together during the free call.

TRICARE goes through Village. PPO plans from several major insurers can, too. Village also adds its own charge to every visit. Families paying privately receive a superbill to file with their insurer. Details live on our insurance through Village page and our page of payment options.

Private speech therapy with us runs apart from any regional center services. No regional center referral is needed to start with us.

Questions from Palms parents about speech

My child is quiet around other kids. Could it be more than shyness?

It could be either. A child who struggles with language may avoid interacting with others, and people may mistake that for shyness. A speech evaluation checks understanding, word use, and how a child connects with people. That can show whether language is part of the picture.

Does my child keep one therapist?

Yes. One speech-language pathologist sees your child at every session.

What happens on the free call?

It lasts about 15 minutes and costs nothing. A licensed therapist listens to what you have noticed and answers your questions. Then you decide, together, if an evaluation makes sense.

We also offer speech therapy in Mar Vista, West Los Angeles, and Culver City. The Palms page covers both speech and occupational therapy here.
