Pediatric speech therapy in Winnetka, from a first word to a full story
Getting words out, getting them clear, and getting them out smoothly can all be practiced. In Winnetka, a licensed speech-language pathologist can work with your child at home, on a screen, or at school, provided you consent in writing and the school is on board.
Newborn through age 18
Home, a video call, or school (with consent and a yes from the school)
Home visits and video can trade places
Perhaps your preschooler starts a sentence, catches on the first sound, and gives up. Or your child stays quiet at circle time while classmates chatter. Pediatric speech therapy in Winnetka can come to your door. In it, a child works on understanding and using words and saying sounds clearly. Stuttering is part of it too. A licensed speech-language pathologist does the work through play and conversation. No diagnosis or referral is needed.
Does Winnetka fall inside your home-visit area?
It does. We visit homes in Winnetka. A video session can take the place of a home visit, or the other way around, whenever you want.
School is another option, whether it is a daycare, a preschool, or a public or private campus. That takes two yeses: yours, in a written consent, and the school's. Our team then talks with the staff and checks that the room is a good fit.
Want an office for the evaluation instead? Just ask. The private office is on Townsgate Road in Westlake Village, and it is secure and confidential. Starting December 1, 2026, our clinic will also be open, with 8 treatment rooms at 2535 Townsgate Road.
Questions about talking or stuttering?

What kinds of help does pediatric speech therapy in Winnetka include?
Talking late, sounds that are hard to understand, stuttering, and trouble with back-and-forth conversation. Mouth habits and feeding are on the list as well.
Some children start talking late or have trouble making sense of words; language therapy helps there. Others say sounds in ways that are hard to follow, and that is what articulation therapy targets. When words repeat or stall, stuttering therapy comes in. Social communication therapy practices turn-taking and joining a game.
With childhood apraxia of speech, a child may know what to say but struggle to plan the mouth movements. Myofunctional therapy looks at tongue, lip, and jaw habits. For a child who speaks very little, AAC can offer another way to be understood. The letters stand for augmentative and alternative communication, which includes picture boards and speech apps.
Speech or OT can lead feeding therapy; the evaluation decides which. Every plan comes with parent coaching.
Heading the speech side is Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP. California State University, Northridge, granted both her B.S. and her M.S., and she co-founded the practice.
What if my child gets stuck on words, or repeats sounds?
That can be stuttering. Bumpy speech can also be a normal phase while a young child is learning to talk. The goal is easier talking, not perfect speech.
In stuttering, the flow of speech gets bumpy. A child may repeat a sound, stretch one out, or get stuck. It is not something a parent caused.
In sessions, nobody rushes your child or tells your child to slow down. Parent coaching shows you how to respond in the moments that come up at home, like dinner or bedtime.
What preschool choices does Winnetka have for 3- and 4-year-olds?
Limerick Avenue Elementary, an LAUSD school with a Winnetka address, has a State Preschool program. Its page says it serves children who are 3 or 4 as of September 1 of the school year, with priority for 4-year-olds. Ask the school whether your child qualifies.
That page calls it the CSPP Part-Day Program and says it gives personalized learning experiences before kindergarten. Limerick also has a page on Transitional Kindergarten, or TK. It says TK is for 4-year-olds who may benefit from an enriched early childhood program. The aim is to prepare them for kindergarten.
The Winnetka Recreation Center page describes its preschool day: circle time, music, story time, games, and play, plus tabletop activities like crafts, cooking, and science. It also lists supervised play and social, cognitive, and emotional interaction. Children must be toilet trained to join. Ask the center which ages it takes.
If a teacher has mentioned trouble at circle time or story time, bring those notes to the free call.
Where can a Winnetka parent ask about LAUSD special education?
LAUSD's Division of Special Education lists a call center for families: School & Family Support Services (SFSS). It offers immediate help and guidance, Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific time.
Winnetka Avenue Elementary is on Winnetka Avenue. Fullbright Avenue Elementary is on Fullbright Avenue. Both are LAUSD public schools for kindergarten to grade 5. If your child attends either one, sessions could happen there, once you consent in writing and that school agrees.
Our private speech therapy runs on its own track. No regional center finding or school district decision has to come first.
How long until a Winnetka child has a first speech session?
Possibly within a week of your first call, since the soonest first session is 5 days after it. When an evaluation is useful, Winnetka families get it within 3 business days of their free consultation.
Sessions may begin ahead of the written report. You can also request a rush evaluation. Your written report lands within 14 business days of evaluation day. If therapy is recommended, a therapy plan is part of it.

Will our insurance cover speech therapy in Winnetka?
It depends on your plan. Through our partner Village, insurance may help; private pay is the other route.
For a Winnetka family on TRICARE, Village can handle the insurance side. PPO plans from several major insurers can go through Village too. Your plan sets what you owe, such as a copay or deductible, and Village bills a fee of its own per visit. Paying privately instead? You receive a superbill to send in to your insurer. Read the details on insurance through Village, or compare payment options.
