Maybe your first-grader's teacher said reading aloud is hard because some sounds still come out wrong. Or maybe you can't shake the sense that buttons, zippers, and shoelaces shouldn't be this hard. Speech and occupational therapy in Northridge can fit into your regular week at home. A licensed therapist from our team, in speech or in occupational therapy, works with Northridge kids of all ages up to 18. Your therapist visits you at home or at your child's school, or meets you over video. No diagnosis or referral is needed. Call whenever you're ready.
Do you visit families in Northridge?
Yes. Northridge is part of our home-visit area. Once you've signed a written consent, sessions can also happen at a school, preschool, or daycare.
Northridge voted to join the City of Los Angeles in 1915. Three neighborhood councils serve it today: Northridge East, Northridge West, and Northridge South. City Planning pairs it with Sherwood Forest in the Northridge Community Plan area.
We also visit nearby Porter Ranch, Granada Hills, and Chatsworth.

Which school district and regional center serve Northridge?
Northridge's public schools belong to LAUSD. On the regional center side, North Los Angeles County Regional Center lists Northridge's 91324 and 91325 ZIP codes among those it serves.
In Northridge, the district's elementary schools include Andasol Avenue on Encino Avenue, Calahan Street on Knapp Street, and Napa Street on Napa Street.
LAUSD's Child Find page tells parents of school-age children to take a concern to the principal at the school their address is zoned for. The next step can be a Student Support and Progress Team. Preschoolers have a separate route, through LAUSD's Early Childhood Special Education office.
Younger than 2 years 10 months? Then LAUSD's page points you to a regional center. North Los Angeles County Regional Center runs Early Start for children up to 36 months old. It says a referral can come from anyone.
Are there toddler storytimes and inclusive playgrounds in Northridge?
Yes. The Northridge Branch Library on Darby Avenue lists a weekly Baby and Toddler Storytime on Mondays, with stories, songs, and movement.
The branch also has sensory kits, which the Los Angeles Public Library says are designed to assist anyone with special sensory processing needs. Dearborn Park on Nordhoff Street is one of the city's universally accessible playgrounds. Northridge Recreation Center on Lemarsh Street has a children's play area and preschool programs.
How fast can speech and occupational therapy in Northridge start?
There's no waiting list as of October 2026. After a free call of about 15 minutes with a licensed therapist on our team, an evaluation can be booked within 3 business days.
Northridge evaluations happen at home, at school, or on video, and rush evaluations are available on request. Learn what a speech evaluation looks like or what an OT evaluation looks like. Expect the written report by the 14th business day after the evaluation, with a treatment plan if therapy is recommended.
What can a Northridge child work on at home or at school?
Everything except social skills groups, which take place in Westlake Village. Each of the others can come to a Northridge home or school.
That covers articulation therapy for sounds that come out wrong and handwriting and fine motor work on buttons, zippers, and grip. It also covers sensory integration therapy, among others. Two co-founders set the clinical direction: Rachel Yashouafar, MA, OTR/L, guides the OT side, and Nita Anavim, M.S., CCC-SLP, guides the speech side. Here are all of our services.

Who pays for therapy in Northridge?
Usually your insurance plan decides. Northridge families can go through our partner Village, which bills TRICARE, as well as PPO plans offered by several major insurers. Village's per-visit fee is separate from what the plan asks.
Northridge belongs to North Los Angeles County Regional Center's area, which is outside the reach of Tri-Counties, the only regional center we work with. So the Tri-Counties route doesn't apply here: Northridge families can use Village or pay privately, and private payers receive a superbill. More on Village insurance and on all the ways to pay.
What else do Northridge families ask us?
Will we need to drive to your clinic?
Not unless you want to. Home, school, and video sessions cover Northridge, and the Westlake Village clinic becomes a fourth option once it opens on December 1, 2026.
Do you work with Northridge schools?
Yes, with your signed consent and the school's OK. That can mean a public or private school, a preschool, or a daycare. We arrange the time with the school and check that the room works.
Can you help with speech sounds that are hard to understand?
Yes. Articulation therapy works on the sounds a child is ready to practice. You learn ways to practice at home that don't feel like a lesson.
“Speech is talking, which is one way to express language.”
By first grade, roughly 1 child in 20 has a speech disorder that people can notice, including stuttering and speech sound disorders, the NIDCD notes.
Small daily struggles add up, and you're allowed to ask about them before anyone else does. When you're ready, we're here to listen.
